Motor Trend reports...

2002 BMW X5 4.6: BMW has developed a new performance edition of the X5, pushing power up from 282 horsepower to a serious 347 horsepower. To achieve these gains, an exclusive 4.6-liter version of the V-8 has been prepared. With a five-speed Steptronic transmission, the 354 lb-ft of torque can be harnessed in automatic mode or shifted manually. The exterior sports distinct, body-color trim and the barrel-sized wheels wear 20-inch tires. The X5 HP goes on sale fall 2001.

The only reason they built that is to officially have the title: The Most Powerful SUV in the World. As of right now, it is the Cadillac Escalade. Also the fastest SUV in the world is the M-B ML55 AMG. BMW will most likely take that title too. But when the Porsche Cayenne comes out(with a 450hp V8) , the game will be over. I think they should just stick to what they do best.

Yeah, I agree...I like the look of the BMW...but cannot imagine towing my trailer and a load of firewood with one....can't beat my old Disco for that job frankly...I use my Saab Turbo for driving quickly, not the SUV.
