My keyless remote has stopped working altogether, even after replacing the batteries. Do I need to reset it after changing the batteries? I have the one button remote on my 95 Disco.

You might want to try replacing the battery ONE MORE TIME. I recently had this happen on my 98 that the replacement battery went out rather quickly. Don't know much about the one button, but it also might need to be re-synched with the alarm, or possibly reprogrammed.

I had a similar problem with my '96 Disco. I had replaced the bateries but it still wouldn't work. When I took it to the dealer for another repair, I told them about it and they re-programed it for free. I think they said it would normally cost like $25-30 to this -- since they had to link it to the truck's computer.

Here's some instructions someone posted on how to reprogram 94-95..... give it a try

Programming for 94, 95 models.

1. Starting conditions: ignition off, doors unlocked, hood switch depressed.
2. Carry out instructions 3. to 9. within 8 seconds.
3. Switch ignition ON.
4. Switch ignition OFF.
5. Lock doors.
6. Unlock doors.
7. Release hood switch.
8. Switch ignition ON.
9. Switch ignition OFF. If alarm is correctly accessed, horn will sound and LED will light. It is now possible to program two handsets of correct frequency to vehicle alarm ECU. This must be carried out within two minutes.
10. Press and hold down button on first handset until dash LED flashes.
11. Repeat instruction 10. for second handset.
12. The LED will extinguish if both handsets have been programmed correctly.

Tried the above procedure and only managed to reprogram the remote that already worked. The one I replace the battery on still doesnt work. It only lights up once then comes off then on again a while later. Think the remote itself may be shot. Anyone have any leads for one? Its my wife's car so I am in no hurry

those remotes are expensive $80 @ http://www.roverconnection.com/

"This remote is for 94~95 Discovery and 94~95 Range Rover Classic. Rover Connection provides the programming procedure manual. You can program it yourself at home. "

I bought one off ebay from a guy and it didn't work so he sent me two more. I only need one. After I get mine programed I can try and send you the other one. You have to take it to someone who can program the receiver on the Disco. the dealer charges a lot for this. I spoke to another shop who would do it for much cheaper.
This is the guy I bought it from he charged me $30.00 for a remote. He sells new ones for a lot less. I have not gotten mine to work yet so I can't really reccomend him but he got high ratings on ebay.

Rob:

That sounds great. Let me know when you get it programmed. I can buy that extra remote from you The programming isnt the problem, just getting a remote that wants to be programmed!!!
