Hey,
Friend of mine has been on the lookout for a set of the Deep Dish Discovery alloy rims for his D110 Tdi project rig. He'll be replacing the steel rims (I think they are either NATO or Discovery steel rims) he has in place now. I am interested in the steel rims for my Discovery trail truck which currently has the Deep Dish alloys like he's looking for.
Here's the question: On a willow green Discovery, would steel rims painted black or alpine white look the best. Or should I just keep the Deep Dish alloys??

The NATO/ Wolf rims have the holes around the outside of the rim, don't look shabby at all...
I have a preference for the Disco spare wheel, myself... thinking about getting some for the Series, AAMOF...
I would think that black or body-colored would look better, but that's just MHO, YMMV.....
The deep-dished alloys are good-looking, too.... I like them, and the Tornado ones (ie. the D90 wheels) that I have much better than the Castors (but I don't mind the Castors when they're painted black).
Your call..... this is one of those personal-choice things, make yourself happy....

Your deep dishes are worth ~600 for 4. His Steelies are worth ~300 for 5. Depending on what year 110 he might have to run without the center cap on the alloys which kinda looks funny.
Other than that I think the disco looks cool on steelies.

His 110 is not a NAS version, let's not discuss that here. Anyway, I think the steelies look great on a Disco especially lifted and with big ass knobby tires. I suppose steel (color) or black will be the way to go.
I understand the alloys are worth more than twice what his steel wheels are worth. Mine are well worn and on some parts of the rims the finish has worn off.

I like the look of steel rims on a Disco:

The steels are great if you wheel in areas of rock. My alloys took quite a pounding and look it. I even managed to bend and dent one so bad it would not hold air anymore. Since I do love to wheel in mine, I went to steels.

Chris - Please keep in mind that rock areas are not the only obstacles where steel wheels come in handy. For instance

hehe..
Can't one consider poured concrete curbs as rock?
I would think so since its made up of smaller rocks.
