Just bought my first Rover. A 98 Disco LE w/ 30k. What am I in store for? I've never seen another truck brand site where people are so into their rides. Pretty shweet.

Look shooter, you better get out of the game now. You'll be obsessed w/ lifts and armor. You'll just scratch and break your new yuppie vehicle that cost you $60,000. You also can't work on it yourself since its British and we don't have British tools or parts here. I'd just sell it...

(Hope you can sense the sarcasm.)

Hey Shooter, congrats on your great new truck! What are you in store for? Weeeeel, for starters, you'll be spending FAR too much time on DiscoWeb. Buy a Moab video and some DiscoWeb stickers, these guys have band width to pay for.....

Karen ;)

What are you in for? How about having a ride that your friends don't comprehend and not being able to explain why you are so "ate up" about it? Truly, if you don't own one, you won't understand. The more you "use" it, the more you understand it. Using it doesn't mean just driving it. Find some one to wheel with and get some mud on it. Oh, one other thing. You will need to practice in the mirror saying "Well, actually it's not made by Toyota" without being too condescending. ;>)

Congrats, and enjoy.

Bud

congrats on the purchase. hope you were not looking to spend much money on the wife or girlfriend in the next few years!! :) may want to get some matching oiled riding coats and pull a horse trailer around town to make sure everyone knows you are super rich. then when they ask you how much you paid for your Range Rover Discovery just tell them, "more than you make in 5 years buddy"!! hehe that or just look them up and down and leave. just kidding with ya there. but you will get the ol.....how can you afford that questions and so on. fun to play along once in while.

ps: sorry karen about the horse and jacket comment. it is just too funny to pass up.

tally ho :)

LOL, gp! The illness goes both ways you know. My husband told me yesterday he'd failed in his attempt to get me a REALLY cool anniversary present, but gave me his credit card in case I could locate one myself. When he told me what he had in mind I was thrilled beyond all good sense. What was it? A spare tire cover for my Disco! With a zebra on it! Now, we've BOTH seen one, but LR claims to never had made one. Perhaps it was a custom jobbie we saw. Sooooo, if anyone knows where I can get one made up, maybe with our horse farm name on it (our farm logo features a zebra) I could exercise that credit card of his. See how easy it is? Just get a Disco-mad woman in your life, LOL! Horses and Barbour coats are optional, but add to the mystique, (LOL!).

Karen ;) Tally ho, indeed, Garrett!

Hey Tate, in Maryland we say "Tally ho ALL y'all". That's the pluralized version you know.....

Karen :)

Yep, good 'ol San Antonio. I wish I could have something else printed on it. Does anybody here know of a place, or technique to put pictures and/or wording on our covers?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By KJ on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 12:25 am: Edit

I heard there was some place in Indiana that did custom covers, anyone know? That zebra is cool (I've got stripe-envy, no question), but the purist in me notices that a non-equine artist did the drawing. Zebras don't pace, they trot, and if I'm getting gouged for a phantom custom cover I might get picky. It's David's credit card anyway....heeheehee.....I knew we'd seen a zebra, what's up with LR saying they never made them? Doesn't seem likely one lone dealership would go to a lot of trouble to custom make them for their own consumption. And I live a LONG way from S.A., and I know I saw one here....

Karen, babbling...off to bed.....Adrian, you lucky somebody....(G)

Could always go to a good local print shop or sign maker and ask if they do custome silk screening and such. They could propbably get it done for you with what ever you want on it. Not sure about the price though. you would just have to get a plain wheel cover and let them do the rest.

Speaking of.....

Where can I find one of those "Tally Ho, Y'all" bumper stickers? I saw the thing at MAR on a Disco, and I really want one of those....

Thx!!

Doesn't LE stand for Limited Edition?. I ask because I have an LE 50th anniversary number 9 of 50. It says so on the brass plaque that is riveted onto the dash just above the glove box.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Gil Stevens (Gil) on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 02:31 pm: Edit

your truck is a limited edition.. it should be woodcote green?? they werent all limited editions, but in 98 they were all LE's. so, no LE doesnt mean limited edition.. did that clear up anything?? :)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Eric N (Grnrvr) on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 02:40 pm: Edit

Gil is right.. You have the 50th aniversary edition. Mine is just a plain old 98 LE.. Was wondering why your was numbered.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Gil Stevens (Gil) on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 02:47 pm: Edit

karen, i get my tire covers from a company called "Boomerang" in Boulder Colorado. they have any and every animal under the sun.. Im sure that LR San Antonio uses them as well, as our covers are identical to theirs. For what its worth...

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By gp (Garrett) on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 03:55 pm: Edit

yeah i second that leslie....i need one too eventhough i'm no southern boy. but that was a pretty slick one.
as for tire covers.......head to your favorite local mall and they can fix you up with a reallllllll nice one!!! hehe maybe even get you a nice airbrushed front license plate with a unicorn and rainbow on it with 'Karen 'n David' on it. :) i just looooove those.

WOW! What have I started-- my question was " what am I in for" and holy smokes does it look like in in for some fun or what? Didn't know wheel covers could've drummed up so much interest. I'm in the wrong bidness...

Took the ol 98 LE non limited edition back in some woods for the first time today. Wife was screeming- NO SCRATCHES! It wouldn't look nice all scratched up in front of the over-priced "beauty" salon in the upscale Connecticut suburbs.
Anyway, work took me off web ( no jokes please ) and now I have to ramble on when I can get on at home. Thanks for all the good words, etc. Karen- I'm from MD also. In Montgomery County. Now in CT. One over priced 'burb to another. Tally ho, all you peeps! :) Gil, she's a gem.

Gil, thanks for the info. I'll see if I can scare up a web site or other contact info for those guys.

gp, you've given me a GREAT idea!!!! I'm taking my Barbour Coat (I have the loooong one designed for horseback riding) to the mall and have them airbrush THAT! "Karen n David 4 Evr!" Think I should have my Akubra done to match? Or maybe a hat band that says "Tally ho, y'all!" arching over a rainbow... Heeheehee.... So shooter, see what you started? And all because you bought that nice Toyota Land Rover Cruiser thing.

Karen
