Today we drove a good part of the length of our state, Maryland. Put about 300 miles on the Disco, from the relative flatland where we live to the mountains (such as they are in Merlin) and the truck was wonderful. I did all the driving as David forgot his license, and I kept my feet on the appropriate pedals, drove MUCH faster than I normally do to keep up with the city-fied drivers, and from the initial look of things will have great mileage to show for it. Lately around my little cow town my mileage has been dropping. Don't know why.

We also got our shop manual from Nathan Crabtree yesterday. The thing is HUGE, done in two volumes. David is well pleased with it. At first I was concerned it wasn't for the DII, as it never says "Series II", or anything else to indicate the difference. Even the printing date threw me. (Another quirky thing from LR I guess) But, when looked at carefully you can see the subtle differences. I want to thank Nathan for helping us get this and for helping me see it was the right one all along! Nathan has been a real peach to work with and I highly recommend him to others.

Karen,

How does one get in contact with Nathan. I'd like to get hold of one of those manuals myself.

Is this a manual put together by Nathan Crabtree? I just bought a 98D1 and am in the market. I sent him an email already. --SM

I got the DII manual, but I know the DI manual is much less expensive, maybe 50% less. The DII manual is two beefy volumes. One binder (only holds the first volume), the gazzillion pages and Priority Mailing (heavy load!) was just over $180.00 as I recall. I figure if we save two hours of shop time, it's paid for.

BTW, on our little road trip last Sunday the mileage in the Disco rose again to over 16 mpg and I was driving WAY faster than usual and through some hills.
