hehehe Steve, BTDT.

Did you bend the right or left corner? Looked like it was the right one. Mine's crooked at the right, too.

peter

P.S. see if you can find your disco at http://www.t-r-j.com/Anza-Borrego/ICS

I have the TJM. you can see it at www.people.vcu.edu/~ahang I don't like the way it mounts. but at around 500 something it was the cheapest way to go. If you tow anything it makes the rear tow hitch unusable. I kept mine and trimmed a bit, i'll box it around the trimmed area so i can use a high lift on the rear bumper in the future.

Also the instructions sucked, mounting holes and fasteners were missing. But that could have been because I bought from Roveraccessories. 4x4 connection has a really good reputation, so I'd call them first before ordering.

Why can't you use the rear trailer hitch with the TJM bumper? I was considering that bumper, and in the photos on 4x4 connection, it shows the rear trailer hitch intact.

So, if you get high-centered on either side of TJM, will it actually hold?

And from the pictures... it doesn't look like it protects your rear... what's it called?.. fenders / quarter-panels (that piece of sheet metal behind your rear wheel).

... I just happend to adjust the geometry of my stock rear bumper this weekend too...

Have you checked out the Trek Outfitters bumpers. I have the front and rear, the rear is great, landed on rocks, jack from it, looks great! Talk with Matt and tell him Carl sent you.

good luck.

The TJM pics @4x4 connection looks like the rear hitch can be used...
do you have an older version or something different from that pic...AlHang??

Like I said, call 4x4connection. I had a really bad experience with my rear bumper and won't buy another TJM product. The bumper did require a little trimming, I trimmed more so i could box it and have a strong point to use a high lift later on. Also half the bolts were missing, holes for the brackets were not drilled, the instructions had pics for mounts in the frame that did not exist. I still have 2 brackets which I cannot use. For that amount of money you may want to call Rockware or Rovertym. I know John has been working on a rear bumper with an improved mounting system. The TJM uses a cheezy mount system which seems weak to me.

Buy a mig welder for 500.00 and 100 worth of steel and build your own.

fwiw, i've been very happy with my tjm rear bumper.
there's been no loss in functionality of the rear hitch that
i've experienced. it's been very strong and and resisted a lot
of damage. previous to this bumper, i've customized three
stock bumpers. and the bumper sticks out far enough that i
no longer worry about backing the spare tire into tree trunks
while off-road. (i managed to back into the only utility pole
in the forest a few years back. serious, total surprise!!)

of course, this bumper was designed for ROW disco's where the tail
end of the frame isn't closed, so i wasn't able to mount the last two
bolts, but the other six bolts holding this thing on seem plenty strong.

i have used the recovery points on this bumper for regular slow pulls.
i would hestitate to do a full KERR off those points (hey, that's want the
pintle hook in the rear tow hitch is for)
