Recently purchased with 25k on the clock. its now done 40k and for the first time noticed what i consider excessive brake pad wear. 1.2 mm worn on both faces of the front discs and 0.5 mm at the rear. i need to know is this normal? maybe it was driven really hard before i got the vehicle or material spec of these discs is wrong.

I a a little confused by the question. Are you saying its at 40K and still is wearing the factory installed pads? If thats the case then I would say its doing damn good. Front pads should get you around 20K or so depending on how you run it. I would estimate 30 for a set of rears...

thanks kyle. for pads read discs. 1.2 mm of disc wear per face, 2.4 mm total in 40k i think is excessive. i have a gut feel that these discs are factory faulty and i'm having a hard time with local dealer who's saying that this sort of wear is OK. if this is the sort of disc wear that other td5 owners are getting then I'll have to accept it.
