Alright already...jeash you guys...finally, here's some shots you've been privately Emailing about...

You'll see a 2" receiver cut into and welded to the ARB (for forward towing or whatever)...And this airbag ARB IS welded to the truck. I'm not really happy with approaches, but it's OK for now.

I love the truck, it looks a lot like mine.

I must say I don't like the ladder at all. I would catch this on every tree, limb, bush and rock on the narrow j**p trails our club runs. If it did not stick out past the body it would be better for me.

How have you kept the jack mount from falling out when you take off your wing nuts? other than the pipe and bolts, what have you done to it? Does it rattle up front the way you have it?

I agree with Mike. That ladder would be hanging off a few trees where we wheel which raises some other questions.
- Say you do catch a tree, does the ladder have break away points or will it just drag the whole roof rack off? Imagine what kind of damage that will cause all over the truck.
- I cant really tell but it appears that the bottom of the ladder ties into the rear lamp guard? Maybe I cant see if there is a bracket running behind the bumper, but if it ties into the lamp, more damage.
I would be curious to see what the smaller unit looks like.
Dont get me wrong, it certainly looks beefy and for someone who doesnt wheel but uses the roof rack (Home depot runs, family vacation lugage, etc)or wheels in wide open, non-constrictive spaces, that needs to be running up and down the ladder a lot may be a good choice. I just dont think you will see a lot of sales of that big unit to people who run the tighter trails or live in wooded areas of the country.

that ladder is super strong.. you can tell better in person. I think it ties into the rear bumper, not the light guard. I could be way off though. All I know is that thing held my 210 lbs frame with nary a worry.

Some ladder details...
The lower mount bolts to the body...not bumper or plastic end: So the ladder moves with the entire body; It is not stressed. If anyone has got under that area and looked up...you'll see a double walled body flange there:

and it currently mounts to the rack this way:

I am in the northeast and the BIGLAD does catch a few things in the woods...I've rubbed some trees too is the right-hand-turns, but exercising some caution works here, of course. It IS
in-board of the side-view mirrors.

The LITTLELAD is a design that will not hang out past the left side of the truck AND you'll
still be able to get an 11D wide boot on the rails and not slip off.

Yes, Slider's ladder is alot tougher in person than it looks onscreen. The ladder actually is bolted to the bumper and not the lamp gard.

Personally speaking, I like the ladder alot but the overhang is a concern. I am looking forward to seeing what the LittleLad is all about.

I would like to add that if the little ladder is made out of flat or square solid stock (not tubing) it will give max foot space, and if it does not go past the body, and allows the rear window washer to spray, I will buy one. I am not unhappy with my ladder but I am adding a Hi-lift to the spare on the door and would like to stop climbing on the door before I cause a problem.

Is your rear work lamp wired into how backup lights?

If so how did you run the wire and what additional things are needed to do this.

bravo to slider for trying something a little different. i don't think the ladder sticks out any more than the wing mirror does.

i am going to steal the idea of the 2" reciever on the arb as i am going with a non-which model with a hi-lift bolted to the front horizontally. and now i can source a portable which that can go in either end.... (thanks slider!)

Warren...The back-up light is on it's own circut...I didn't wire it into the backup lights because, ex: the truck is running at the boat ramp at night and I need the light, wouldn't want to have to leave it in reverse while I'm back there...it has it's own switch.

I need to set it up, so it does come on with backup lights (this would be handy) and with its own switch too.

What's probably going to happen in this case is the back-up lights will come as well, when the switch is flicked on. which I guess, is fine?!
