Does anyone know if the head gasket failure is a common fault on the 99 TD5 Disco ? it's only done 50k! is it a sign that the engine has over heated and the head has warped ?
Thanks
Jon

You are dealing with much higher cylinder pressure on the TDI then you would be with just a regular old V-8. When dealing with such high cylinder pressures failures such as that are more common. Ofcourse it could be either of the two reasons you lsited but if it has over heated you should know. If it hasnt over heated I wouldnt suspect a warped head or block.
