Why do you prefer Hella over other brand?
Is PIAA a good choice?

I like hella's myself. I do not know all of the technicalities, but i've been through hell with mine and unbelievably they are still alive. I dare say they are brighter than PIAA's but am not sure.

I was told by Perrone that he had a friend that was going to buy piaa but then decided to buy Hellas. So the hellas must be about 22X brighter. I submit this as FACT please do not try to re-but this my source is solid.....Perrone

I have 3 Hella 4K I love them. I was going to install them myself but didn't have the time so decided to let the dealer do it they said they used a LR harness for the install that hooks up to the factory fog light switch.(DII) and twice the lights burned out my BCM I told them to use 3 relays instead of 2 and I think thats what they ended up doing in the end I haven't had problems since but only time will tell because before they didn't burn the BCM out immediatley but rather over time Anyone else experiance this?

They are mounted on a $G bumber and as much as you guys dislike $G I know that wasn't the problem LOL

piaa, hella and ipf all make great lights. i use to use them in my days as a young whiper snapper racing VW's with the SCCA. usually used hellas since they were most readily available. as long as you have a solid metal housing, good wiring and a fairly beefy lens and mounting bracket you are fine. mounting is key i think. i have some used hella 2000s i got on ebay for $60. they have a nice lexan cover and are solid. the mounting is easy and strong. when mounting high on a rack this seems even more necessary, since the lights come in contact with branches quite often.

plastic Hella 500's are the best. Can't beat fine mexican build quality.

really, go for the hella 4000's. they look like a killer light. I'll be mounting some up as soon as my baby gets a job to support herself.

if you're REALLY da man, do what slider did & go with the HID hellas...

each of the major light mfgs have something good.

the hellas 4000s for example are still made in the fatherland. they are sturdy, robust and heavy.

the ipfs are japanese, extremely well engineered and lighter with trick switches and harnesses.

no personal experience with piaa - but i can imagine they are on par with ipfs. the piaa seem to be into square - lights should be round as god intended!

so the lights are an extension of the country of origin's engineering philosophies.

what do i use? i have ipf 960s - small light powerful for their size and with the j beam upgrage.

what do i pine for? hella 4000 hid motor sports in euro beam - i cannot resist those red lens rings

"das ist meir brusht!"
