Hi all,
About a month ago while parked, some drunk slammed into a car that slammed into my truck.
He caused a bit of cosmetic damage, Pushed in the back door a bit, and pushed the truck into the parked car in front of me.
The car is ready for pick up from the body shop, but the shop tells me the "S" and "M" dash board lights are flashing.
I don't remember them doing this on the way to the shop....and he dosn't remember them being on, on the way to the spray booth. He did have the battery dissconected for a while.
Computer reset??
It's a Disco II.
Any thougts??
Thanks
Carl

Mine did it the other day and I couldn't put it in drive or reverse. I think it has something to do the an electronics malfunction in the gearbox. My solution: shut the car off and restarted it. Everything was fine after that. If yours continues take it a dealer and claim the insurance on it. Freakin' land rover electrical systems......

Hmmmm....
I belive mine is running fine it just thinks it's xmass. It has been in the body shop for 3 weeks and the thought of a stay at the dealer is killing me.
I think that drunk might have pissed of the Lucas gods.

OK! Except for SQ, you guy's were no help on this one. But I forgive you.I did get good advise from some guys over on the disco 2 BB ...and I thought I'd share this one.(it was the solution I needed.)
"Just had that a couple of weeks ago, Carl. The explanation from one
dealership was that some low voltage situations will prompt the
computer to put the transmission into a "recovery" mode where it will
stay in 3rd gear, allowing you to get to a service location without
it shift through forward gears. This could potentially be caused by
a variety of electrical problems. One suggestion was that the
alternator was misbehaving. As it turns out, mine was caused by a
broken battery terminal.

I would recommend checking all the battery connections.

Bud"
Good info if it happens to you.
..and thanks again Bud
