Has anyone put the Rancho 9000's on a Disco?? I just ordered a set with the dual controls, and Rancho says they have a set to fit in Discos without having to add a new shock mount. Any stories out there?

I have 9207s in the front and 9005s in the rear on RoverTym shock mounts. I have been very happy with them thus far. There are some others on this board with Ranchos too, you can search the archives for some deep shock conversations.

When I talked to Rancho tech support, they recommended 9159 for the front, and 9157 for the rear. I wonder why you guys are you using a different model?

9159F and 9157R are the closest match to standard and are a straight (no mods) swap if you have standard springs. If you change springs (stiffer or longer) or both you have other options that give you more extension without crunching. Most common alternative (at least in AUS) if you have longer springs is 9207F and 9221R...which I'm told are off a landcruiser.

I belive those (9159/9157) are for a stock height. I have OME springs with 9207 on the front and 9234 on the rear with the Rovertym extended upper mounts (short version) and stock lower mounts. My rear springs are retained top and bottom also.

I'm running them too..somewhat happy...a bit bouncy... They through in the remote control when I bought a set of 4...

Treat yourself and go with Bilsteens. A gas shock with a much better ride. You can get them for stock replacement or up to a 14" travel. I have the 12" to go with a 3" lift. When I think of Rancho, I think of Jeep stuff. Not the best. I got the 5100 12" shock for $69 each and got 360/80 off road valving.

I have always been a Bilstein fan, but most specs are on the stok OEM replacements. Where can one find accurate info on non-stock or special application Bilsteins? Ideal would be lengths (both extended and compressed), mountings AND
plots for "jounce/rebound" dampening.

Bilstein has a guy that does nothing but off road tech. stuff. He knows the Discovery. I asked him to call John at Rover Tym when I got my 3" to make sure I was getting the right shock for the lift. I forget his name but just call Bilstein. I don't know why I spelled it wrong last time!?

I have some useful Bilstien info on the Spanish Trail pages. I was able to get some info from them not normally divulged on both the OEM applications and the off-road shocks.

WHICH Bilstein office did you call?? Phone number??
I've just checked the website, and I can't find phone numbers for Bilstein themselves, only numbers for companies that sell Bilsteins.
