'95 Disco SD, leather, auto, 87,000 miles, Old Man Emu HD suspension, adventure roof rack and ladder, genuine brush gaurd, limb risers, jump seats and manual seats, dual sun roofs, new bfg a/t's. Overall its in really good shape other than a few brush scratches.

I just test drove a stock '94 Defender this afternoon. I have a '96 Disco, but I've always wanted a Defender, but after today, my Disco is looking a lot better than it used to. Don't get me wrong, Defenders are awesome, but it all comes down to what you want to do with it.

In the Bay Area (CA), most Defenders go for like $35K plus ('97's go for as much as 45K). However, I was all stoked about this '94 because the guy is asking $20K for it, but it had 115K miles. However, after the test drive, I realized that this thing was meant for Off-Roading and as a daily driver, it would be hard to get use to compared to the Disco.

IMHO, the Disco is the best of both worlds. I have been amazed of the things I've able to do with my stock Disco off road. On road, that '94 Defender wouldn't give me all things the Disco gives me. Off Road, the stock '96 Disco may not be as "capable" as that '94 Defender (but only slighty).

I bought my '96 Disco SE (Auto & Leather) 4 months ago with 58K miles and it cost me $12K. I've seen '95 SD's as low as $10K. And a whole lot of Disco Series 1 for under $18K. When I look at the price differance between the two Rovers, the Defender is just way too overpriced for me.

Well,

I can second the opinion of the Disco preference. I have an 94 D90 ST and a 97 Disco LSE. With the exception of fall and spring I hate driving the D90. If the top is off then it is great to drive, of course if the weather is nice. But overall, if I'm taking more than a short drive I use the Disco. The 90 is just too uncomfortable for highway driving. Unfortunately I bought the 90 when the prices were high and have been trying to sell it for awhile. My 97 Disco LSE, I bought 4 months ago for less than $14K. I also found an 97 SD with 66K miles for less than $10K. Hope these will give you an idea of pricing.

I looked at a couple of 110's before opting for the Disco, mainly for the reasons above.

I would not want one as an every-day car as they are not really designed for that. Also, I found there was more room in the front (especially elbow room while driving) of the Disco, hence, more comfort.

I go shooting alot in a friends D90, it's like rolling around in a tin can. Goes well, it's just that you cannot talk much (shout yes, talk, no) while your moving, and my friends basic comfort principals are

- if your cold - put more clothing on
- if your hot - open a window
- it the windows are misted up, use your hand and wipe 'em
- if you want music - whistle
- if you don't like it - get out and walk.

Very "raw" vehicle.

Good luck, what ever road you choose.
