Never ceases to amaze me - if someone had told me I'd be printing friggin recipes of the Dweb a couple months ago - I'd have told 'em they were nuts!
My wife cannot figure out why I come home talking about all this non-Disco stuff everyday - LOL
We've got everything here now - no reason to ever leave - pretty soon we'll be virtual wheeling (though that would probably not be a good thing )
Hats off as usual to K/H/A and everyone else.....

Bill I feel it too, I spend soooo much time hanging out here I'm trying to come up with a way to disguise the Dweb banner page to look like my other work screens so I don't get busted.

Ya know....
I've gotten a few others hooked onto D-web, and they're not even Disco owners!!!
Gotta admit, it's a good crew to run with....

Heck, I own a 94Range Rover and I'm like a street bum hanging out in here......I regret having to minimize my screen to get some work done.

Ok Larry,
Maximize the compiler. Then stretch out the web browser in front, leaving 1/2 inch at the top of the screen, everywhere else fully maximized.
When boss walks in - push mouse forward quickly and click. Bang - you're working!

Yes it is an amazing place ... came here awhile back looking for info, and got way more than I bargained for ... Not just tremendous info, ( & great Moab 2001 video!), but people really helping each other, and some great new friendships forged here.
Only problem: I'm finding the more time I spend on the board, the more weight I'm gaining - YIKES! ("Oh I'll go out for a run after I read this next thread about airing up," - "Oh I'll practice right after I read about SLS and tires" ...) I've already gained 5 lbs in the last 3 weeks - (couldn't have had anything to do with the 2nd & 3rd helpings from the Iron Chefs, or the mass consumption of red wine last weekend ... )
Kim
I'd better get running, LOL ...

Yea...I got it bad also.
I have two computers at work. I work on the Mac and keep the PC on DWeb.....I don't think that's what they had in mind when I got them.
Oh Well.

Well, 5:00 and quitting time...the discoweb reminds me of the wiley cayote and roadrunner...go like hell all day after punching in at 8:00 AM and punching out at 5:00 PM after a hot day of persuit.

Ahhhh , wiley Coyote , my all time favorite dude... No one can ever say he was a quitter....

Kim, Slap some discoweb stickers on those running shoes of yours and you'll run easier and faster. Then you can get back to discoweb quicker.
By Roverine on Friday, October 19, 2001 - 07:06 pm: Edit |
Jim, great idea!! I will definately give that a try tomorrow, heh heh heh

Well, you guys have said it all. What more can I say...It's almost midnight and I'm going riding (mountain bike) tomorrow at ringwood state forest at 6:30 a.m., instead of getting some well needed zzz's, here I am typing away at discoweb.
Hi...my name is Glenn and I'm a DISCOWEBAHOLIC!

FYI...some suggestions to use at work to hide discoweb without being quite obvious:
1. "Alt... Tab..." - most common one. If boss sees you do it, they become suspicious. Use only if boss is not computer literate. My former boss believed that the monitor is the actual computer so I got away with it for awhile .
2. "Alt + F4" - closes the window and revert it to another application that's currently running or takes you back to desktop. (make sure current running application is work related). Although, this key stroke is also becoming quite popular to bosses.
3. "Alt... spacebar... n..." minimizes the discoweb browser window and exposes another application that is currently running or just the desktop. This is a good one and it's the least obvious of the three.
All those suggestions are based on your monitor's back facing the incoming traffic to your office/cubicle.
Based on the previous threads here, most of us are tech people. If you have a tip that you use, please post it here and help your fellow discowebaholics get their fix. Thanks!

I always have my email open at work so I just minimize Discoweb and maximize my mail using the mouse. Boss will think that you are reading your email..

I occasionally go on D-web at school too. Last week we had to write an extensive paper on anything we wanted to, so I picked Land Rovers. I went on D-web and said that I was getting some information. The teacher didn't mind. I spent every minute of that class(that week) on D-web. Friends gathered around to see the capabilities of Land Rovers. I also showed parts of the D-web MOAB video to them as my "visual aid." They were all really impressed. Even the die-hard j**pers were impressed. They also said, "that yellow one is bad ass!" That was, of course, Master Ho's Disco. But they already knew how capable Land Rovers are, because we go wheelin' at least once a month.

Well, lemme see.... we get solve the World's problems, get computer tips, trade jokes, make friends, swap recipes, learn where to scout bargains, buy stickers and videos, vent, laugh, get movie and TV reviews, OH! and learn about Rovers and other wonders. Well yes, I'd say DiscoWeb IS an amazing place!

First things I do when I get to work
- coffee
- discoweb
- hotmail
- email (work)
- news group alt.fan.landrover
Only got caught once, used the excuse (as I'm the IT Manager) that someone sent in a link to a web site that I did not recognise. Had to check it out before I could authorise it! (we check all emails and web content at work).
I spend a total of about 3 hours a day on DW. Yes I'm an addict and I know I have a problem. BUT I DON'T CARE! I'M HAPPY!
Misses thinks I'm mad. Received my DW stickers the other day. She was on the phone trying to get me taken away! They're on the front, back, side panels, inside of my Disco. There's one on my sons toy Landie. Wanted to put one on the head board of the bed, but she refused. She cannot stay in doors forever though...

Ok this is cool: My computer has TWO monitors (easy to acquire if you're a graphics programmer). On the one in front of me its the compiler. On the right - DWeb. Anyone walks in, I'm looking straight. Otherwise, its the fun stuff!
If the compiler has multi windows, you can hide the web with one of them, and then its jst a click on one screen and DWeb is hidden!
ps Don't tell anyone
