I am thinking of making a black hood decal just like the LR one on the XDs. The only problem is I have to buy a 30 foot roll because of the width. I was curious if anyone would be interested in a cheaper alternative to the $125 genuine version. If I do it I can send pictures of how it turned out.

Hi,
I am interested. So, how much is a 30 foot roll?

The roll I would have to get is around 150, so not cheap. But if i can make them look as good as the original and maybe sell some to get the cost down. I was just curious if anyone would be intersted before sinking that kind of money into 30 feet of material.

Sure I've been thinking about getting one of these. How much are you thinking of selling them for? Is this the same matterial as the OEM decals?

Well, I am still interested. Maybe 3 or 4 of us can get together to buy the roll??

I'll definitely take one. I bought one last year, and screwed up the installation. I'm thinking about just painting the hood. Let us know what they might cost.

I would be interested in enough to cover close to the entire hood. I have a shape I'd like to cut out myself.

heat resitance on those LRNA films is very poor.
make sure the one you guys are getting are better under heat.
the one that came with the XD cracked.
it has been peeled off and painted.

i'd like to get in on this if it's still possible. is it the same material as the OEM model? how does it hold up in the heat. i've heard horror stories about others cracking and peeling. please keep me posted.

I am sorry to report but I don't think I am going to be making more than one. I found another source that will sell the material I need by the yard. This is a cheaper alternative to the factory option if you are willing to cut the shape out yourself. I just went to a local design shop and they supplied me with the materials are were very helpful with hints on the best way to go about cutting out and applying the decal.

share the scoop, hombre - details, details, details! Also, what exactly is the "material" - I've held off on buying the rover hood decal because it burn off in the AZ desert sun (especially with hot hot engine running hard in low gear all day long).

the material I was going to use is just a flat black vinly that any sign shop should be able to get as for it holding up to extrem heat I can check and see what this guy says at the sign shop but I would think it would be ok in most sittuations.
