I recently changed my front brake pads to Kevlar pads and I found myself unable to lock my brakes so my ABS can kick in. Did I do something worng? My brakes are working oaky. Well, I have not encountered a situation that I need to lock my brakes. Thanks.

Fellow Ed,

Sorry you have to learn this, but I posted problems with Kelvar pads several months back. I replaced my stock worn out pads with Kelvar pads from Altanta British (pads made by porterfield) in all four corner.... and my brakes gotten worst. I too, no longer can lock up my brakes even in the rain. After few more times of brake bleeding (thinking bubbles are trapped), it was decided the brake pads is the problem. AB offer to replaced the pads with Original Rover pads and a credit refund of the difference after 3 months of usage (real nice customer service). Make a long story short, pop the original pad in, and all is well, lock-up once again.

when it kicks in you get a pulsating feedback through the brake pedal. : ¬)

but if you _can_ lock up your wheels, it means that ABS does _not_ work. Except some extremes like black ice.

I have the exact same problem with the Kevlar pads. No matter how hard I press, I can't get the ABS system to kick in. I think the main problems are with the Kevlar pads in the rear. The pads are simply too small to heat up effectively. I'm replacing the Kevlar pads with soft organics from Nathan Crabtree.

Thanks,
Mike B.

I will be happy to sell mine.

I may not have been clear. I cannot lock up the tires with the Kevlar pads on. When on dry pavement, I cannot even apply enough pressure to make the ABS kick in. You have to allow extra space to stop. Panic stops are out of the question.

Thanks,
Mike B.

Mike B, That is pretty bad. I bought mine from Nathan so I am going to give him a call to see if I can change it.

I have the same problem with the Kevlar pads Nathan sent me. They don't do well at low speed stops and seem to be getting a lot worse as it gets colder and wetter. I will switch back to stock pads.

I went to a harder pad and had the exact same problem, even after giving them time to ware in they just didn’t have the stopping power. It was especially bad in the morning when you just start off and were going slow. I went back to OME and the breaking is 500% better.

Just another 2c worth

Moe,

Give Nathan a call. He is sending the replacement pads via FedEx to me. I don't know how much credit I will get back. I will let you know.

A nugget should be noted from this folks. Price does not equate to utility. I use organics since I live in wet-Florida. Dry fast, do the job and man are they cheap.
