I was exploring the mountain in Lake Taheo area in my D2 and notice substantial power loss. I guess it was because of the high altitude (around 8000-9000ft)?

However, have done lots of offroading and got to some peaks at 8000-9000ft. It was the best Taheo trip ever.

Charlie,

go to Colorado, and you will be pleased by the power you had at lake Tahoe :)
Going towards Eisenhower tunnel, my Disco maxed out at 55mph in the 2nd gear.

I have a cabin at Tahoe and know all to well the power loss. You lose 2% of your hp for every 1000 ft from sea level. Tahoe is 6212 feet that is a 12.4% loss. Where did you go to get too 9000 ft in the Tahoe basin???

Charlie,

Like Peter said come on out to Colorado. I'm usually at 10 to 12,000 feet up and have gone up to 14,000 twice. I don't know what I am missing power wise, but the Rover does just fine! If you keep doing it eventually you won't even notice the difference in altitude. Keep on Rovering!

Oldscout, we climb up to Mt. Watson and Mt Genoa(sp?) and some other peak that I don't remember the names. Mt. Watson is about 8140ft and Mt Genoa is about 9000+ft

It was REALLY nice up there! The only thing is the sound of the D2. It is trying to breath harder than my gf.... she has astma and is still trying to recover from the change of altitude. She was ok until we get back to SF.

...floored in 2nd gear and slowing

...big rig hauling logs gettin' chummy with your ass-end

Oh Yeah - there's some power loss at altitude
