are getting the "click" when you press the brake pedal (i.e. are you activating the shift-lock release switch)? I know this may be hard to believe, but maybe there is an electrical glitch that is preventing your shifter from unlocking. I was looking at this section of my Rover manual the other day, and I know that someone posted something a while back about defeating the shift lock switch...maybe try a search (of archives?)...

P.S. Long live Bob!

Do you have a brake light out? If not, stomp on the brakes a few times. That usually will do it but you have to "fix" the problem.

Ron

search the archieves

if you follow the brake pedal to it's pivot point, you should see 2 different plunger switches.
the switch for the brake interlock and lights has 4 wires. the other is for the ABS

do your brake lights work? if they are always on, or don't go on, the switch is bad. you can either try to repair it, or just replace it. i have done this twice (and both were 97's...hmmm.) and both times, one of the springs in the switch broke, which is connected to a contact. if the brakelights are always on, be careful of a possible meltdown of the switch plastic. a guy in KC had his catch fire from short in the switch

Its the switch...happened to me 2 weeks ago. Hope yours is in a better spot than mine was. My wife had parked too close to the side of the garage and getting the door open to change the switch under the steering wheel was fun to say the least.

Many thanks to Bluegill, Ron, Danno, Kyle, Jorge, and the Discoweb BBS, again you guys saved me a trip to the dealer. I dont know why I like this truck, but I do.

This truck and I are like an abusive relationship, it's a bad, but i wont leave. It's sick!

BTW, I notice my # 13 fuse missing, is that OK?

Thanks again!

fuse #13 in the dash is the "Ignition feed for Multi-function unit"

fuse #13 in the engine bay is for the altenator.

DiscoReggie: "This truck and I are like an abusive relationship, it's a bad, but i wont leave. It's sick!"

LOL :) ...and when things are really going great between the two of you, either you f#$k it up by breaking something off-road or Mrs. Rover gets moody for no reason whatsoever.

Jorge: "My wife had parked too close to the side of the garage and getting the door open to change the switch under the steering wheel was fun to say the least."

See what I mean? It's a vast unwritten conspiracy...
