Hi.

One of my factory fog lights (the ones which are below the headlights) has burned out. The manual says 'we recommend the dealer replace this.' I don't really want to take it to the dealer to do, and was hoping someone could tell me how to remove it and replace the bulb (if there is even a bulb, it may be a sealed beam?).

Thanks.

What year is your vehicle?
I have a 97 model and here's what you do.
Look under the front bumper and locate the light. There is one screw on each side of the light that holds it to the mounting bracket. Remove these screws...careful there is a small plastic spacer between the light and the mount....save these. Unplug the wiring harness. Take the light assembly to your work bench and pull the light from the plastic housing. Unhook the wires. You will then see a "clip" that you need to remove and when you do the bulb will come out.
Install is reverse of this procedure.
Caution, don't pry on the the lens as it is sealed to the housing and you will break the seal.

I've got a 97 too (see subject..) ;-)

I saw the lights and the screw behind the bumper, but I didn't want to mess with it if I *really* could not service it. (Nothing sucks more than taking things apart, finding you can't do anything, and having to put it back together..):)

Then having the wife compalin that I spend 2hrs in the garage working on that damn car... bla bla. haha

Thanks!

Tommy,
I have a 97 also, my seal busted and one light was filled with mud. Took me 10 minutes to pull it out and ten minutes to replace. Really not a time consumming job, unless you need a beer between each bolt that is loosened, which is of course SOP for my rover work. When you are the only male in a house of 5 females, my rover repair efforts just linger on and on.

Hey guys,

I pulled the light out tonight. I must have a different light than you guys. Mine is totally sealed. The wires are sealed into the back of the light fixture. I guess I could pull that off of the clear plastic front, breaking the seal, unless there's something I'm missing.

Is this the way your lights are?

And Jake, your story reminds me of that commercial running for some PMS medicine - only guy in an all girl home. I've got a balanced household - me, wife, 1 son & 1 daughter. :)

Thanks in advance...
-Tommy

Is there not a small screw in each side of the light? These screws hold the light to the mount along with a ball and socket adjuster.
Once you remove these screws you will see that the whole thing comes part and the bulb is easily access. Don't break that seal on the lens!
