Got passed by an expedition-ready Defender 110 wagon yesterday, blue with a white top and the phrase "one life live it" on the side and Virginia plates. But what really piqued my interest is the '83-newer Defender front-end and the righthand drive (plus it had "Defender" on the rear). Since everybody I ask sternly tells me those are illegal to import, my question is how did it get here? Or is it just a re-decorated SIII (obviously with a V8 or 300tdi, cuz it cruised past me at my leisurely 62 mph :) )

Either way, whoever it is, you've got a nice truck.

A) Where were you at?

B) What are you calling "expedition-ready"?

I know of a blue RHD 110 that was at the Mid-Atlantic...

This particular truck was pretty much built by the fella from parts... not a Series, but a home-built Defender. A lot of elbow grease has gone into it... not entirely "stock", has digital VDO gauges instead of Rover/Smith/Jaeger analog stuff, custom fues boxes, etc....

Did the one you see have a sailboat on the spare-tire cover? If so, it'd be the same one...

That's Alex Maiolo with the blue 110. He's from CHapel Hill, NC and has NC plates. Nice rig but I don't remember seeing any decals on it at the Middy.

a) Heading west on 58 near the Hampton Roads airport in Chesapeake

b) This dude had a safari rack with about everything you'd need to go anywhere. ("Expedition-ready" was a little tounge-in-cheek :) )

Don't remember the spare cover, in fact I don't think it had one, but I do remember it had Virginia plates.

Yeah, I was referring to Alex's... I wasn't sure if it would have had VA or NC tags...

In that case, Jon, don't know who you saw....

Hmmm......................
