I know this is a long shot but is it possible to change the rear power window mechanism to one that drops the window all the way down? Maybe using a set designed for the front doors. Has anybody taken the rear doors apart and seen the inards to see if this is workable?

I reckon the problem is the curve of the door around the wheel-well - the window can't go lower. Call it a passenger safety feature!

I agree with Rovernutt on that one.. It looks to me like the shape of the door is what keeps the window only going half way down not the mechanism. If the wheel arch was back an inch or two then the window probably could have been made to go al the way down.. But, then again it is also a safety feature.
