Just got back from cali, WoW!!! This lift is the bomb! I thought a 3" was going to be a wobbly ride, its better than stock, and handles great! Awsome kit, anyone with a series 2, take a look at these kits.

Have pictures soon.

Congrats Seann! :)
BTW, where/who installed the lift for you (thought you were looking for someone to do it while in Cal? - sorry if I'm mistaken) Anyway, glad to hear you're so happy with it:)

Kim:)

What does your RTE kit consist of? What shocks? What all was involved?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Seann on Saturday, October 27, 2001 - 10:56 pm: Edit

LR in Neewport installed the kit. My disco2 kit had the rte springs, rancho 9000s, new front shock mounts, and brakelines from RoverX. Its awsome!

Seann,

Thanks for the info on who installed it for you ... BTW, what year did you say your Disco is? ..
The reason I ask is because I bought my D2 ('01) from LR Newport Beach - A couple of months ago they had a complete change in management (new GM, new warranty mngr., new sercvice mngr., etc.) with a ton of turnover lately - I've been wondering how the mechanics/service side is since the changes - Last Friday evening, Greg & I were there looking at some new vehicles on the lot - Ran into the sales guy who sold us our Disco - In conversation about ETC and it's merits and shortfalls, we told him we were looking forward to installing CDL ... He got kind of wide eyed and said, "Oh! But if you do that, you will VOID YOUR WARRANTY!" (I've already stated this on another thread so sorry for being redunant - don't have your e mail address). So. I've been wondering how the guys in the service area are - In the past, this would not have been an issue, and I'm just trying to gauge what to expect. Thanks,

Kim :)
If you want, you can e mail me off the board at Roverine2001@yahoo.com (I haven't posted that before, because I can't always check that address as often as I'd like).

whats a CDL

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Phillip Perkinson (R0ver4x4) on Sunday, October 28, 2001 - 05:30 pm: Edit

the CDL is what locks the front and rear drive shafts together..therefor actually putting the all wheel drive on your disco into true four wheel drive..this can vary if you have no locker..CDL=4wd

I new the midwest dealers would catch up to u guys.
Guess its ford taking over service department of LR.
They told me the same thing about my 2" lift on my DISCO II(01), VOID VOID VOID.
They lost a sale because of that, i was looking at a 2001 LR RHINO to replace my car, i lost in the flood.
GOOD LUCK

Al, you voiced what I've been a suspicious of more and more particularly in the last couple of months - It's like Ford has issued an edict of some sort ... Oh well, I'm going to find out as much as I can (a little "snooping") given time. I've heard there are still a few cool dealers out there - I guess one just has to really develope a relationship with a good dealer, and hope that they don't disappear.

Yeah, i'd like to see those pics too. Just wondering, what tire size are you running or will run with that lift? I think 255/85 or 285/75 will do. You'd have to get 4:10 gearing(or higher) to keep up with traffic.

NOW it's time to take that beast off-road. We'll have to slip in a Sunday run sometime soon. Coves are nice & close....so is Sycamore Creek...and so is Verde River (aka little Mexico) north of you. We have to get Allen to go, too.

Where is his "gallery"

you gotta be kidding me. please no one help him. I will help you examine the clues though. LOOK AT his first name, Sean. You want to view his PHOTO's right? In a GALLERY no less, but if you check that link you will find 2 listings for a "SEAN"
I've given you that much, can you do the rest?

Greg your disco appears to be bigger

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Phillip Perkinson (R0ver4x4) on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 02:59 pm: Edit

yeah your disco is huge..what all do you have under that thing..its gotta be more than 3" springs..

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Seann on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 03:01 pm: Edit

Im sure his car is a bit bigger. I dont have a trimmed front or rear bumper. I have the rack, and arb, winch, i think thats all it is. Spacers will be on soon enough.

Seann

Unless his (your) springs are like Greg H?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By John on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 03:23 pm: Edit

Only I know who's is bigger...Lol

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Greg Davis on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 03:23 pm: Edit

Phillip, I was the proto for the RTE springs. I'm running 3" DSI springs which actually gave 4.75" of lift before the winch and guard. After it still netted a solid 4". I think Greg H. used the 2" DSI springs (3" on DSII) along with 1" spacers, but I'm not 100% on that.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Greg Davis on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 03:24 pm: Edit

Now John. Musn't tell all the secrets. ;>)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Seann on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 03:30 pm: Edit

Greg what do you think about adding spacers (my rig) 1-2" ?

Seann

How is the sliders and skid plate coming along for the rear bumper?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By John on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 03:37 pm: Edit

Seann, stick with what you have for now...see what you learn about your truck.

Seann,

You need some dents and scratches in that bad boy.

Try to keep the rocks off that snorkel though. Plastic and rocks don't get along :)

Seann, I wouldn't reccommend spacers just yet. Get used to the rig the way it is for now. Another couple of inches will cause alot of unwanted changes (arms, lines, d-shafts, etc.).

Waiting on some parts from the machine shop. Should be ready in another week or so. I'll let you know when it's done. It looks great and will be sturdy as hell.

Keep up the good work....if I get a disco II I am gonna mail it to you
