THats they question...also, does the Jackall mounting kit work with a hi-lift as well?

There is no place to safely use a Hi-Lift jack on a stock Disco (as a jack). You can put it into your rear receiver, but it will have a tendency to slip out. The front bumper is too weak.

If you grind off the front lip of the Hi-Lift jack, you can use the Jackall Defender 110 bumper adapter (on your Hi-Lift) to add about 6" to the tongue of the jack. This will allow it to fit safely in your rear receiver (2" hitch receiver).

Thanks,
Mike B.

I've been wondering why I bought mine too. But I think there may be a way to stick a metal pole sideways under one side, and toward the other side up over another point, thus allowing me to jack up an entire side. Would have to be a pretty strong pole, and may not be something to take on a trip.

You can probably see why I was asking Carl to draw the CDL linkage!

Dean,
It looks like you have some loose cargo there, better strap it down.

BTW,
About that drawing, I would like to pull my CDL lever off and mesure that hole.
I think that would be the most usefull part of the drawing.

not to say it is a very safe practice, but i've used hi-lift to jack up the steel wheels. The hi-lift's lip seems to fit perfectly into the groove (safety bead) of a steel wheel.

here's what it was for: http://www.t-r-j.com/BigBear/17Feb01/disco2.gif

i was able to jack up all four wheels, and toss some rocks and tree branches under them.
no, it didn't help a bit.

I have the bumper adapter for the rear and I've used my Jackall on a couple of occasions where NOTHING else would have worked. They are also good as come-alongs and pry bars. I also used it as a clamp once. I put mine in the same category as an atomic bomb; you hope you never need it, but it's very comforting knowing that it's there if you do.

Thanks,
Mike B.

P.S. - The Atomic Bomb part is just a figure of speech. I don't really carry an A bomb with me when I off-road.

What a relief...an A bomb would NOT be good if it got wet I think.....

Ford's gonna be pissed when they learn you stole the 2021 concept Rover drawings.
...good wheels though.

I tried this jacking method (see photo above) this evening. Got this big pipe, attached one end to the centre box section between the two main frame members with an open shackle, and the other end pushing up on the other side. Apart from bending the pipe slightly, I did manage to get both wheels off the ground very easily.

I think with a bit of work it could be very useful and strong too.

Where can I get a bar, about 5 feet long, that could stand up to 2-3000 lb in the middle? I was thinking about a jackall main bar or something similar.

You are, without a doubt, one interesting individual!! Your neighbors must wonder what's up over there.

Kent,

Looking back in recent threads, I think more surprise has been given to a certain other quiet gentleman who seems to be building one fo the most kick-ass rigs around!

That rig did sound mad.
Dean,
I have some ideas for a small ladder type rig to use instead of your bar, but I would have to look at you contraption in person to judge if my idea would work.
