it's not really that slow is it PM?? not sure if you were just kidding or not. never know around here. i thought it was more along the lines of 10.5-11 sec. to 60 mph. really is not something to advertise anyhow.

oh we had this discussion before. there are a few insane people out there. i faintly remember bluegill (not that he is insane or crazy......)was outrunning some border patrol and had his '96 up around 120+. that must feel like a shuttle during re-entry. i already totaled one DI......i am happy with my max. of 100 mph in my '94 (RIP) while just cruising on an open highway in VT. one good moose crossing the road and i was road kill. but 0-60 speeds should be just a tick over or under 11 seconds.

65 is tops for me on I70, any where else its 55, or 35 or 25...hehehehe
By james on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 02:12 pm: Edit |
Driving cross country from Va to CO we got my 95 up to 120 with no problem. Flat land...not down hill! The higher rpm at that speed helped too. Stock with K&N.
James
p.s. On I-70 80mph-90mph is typical..just not over Vail Pass. Vail pass = 35mph

James, what part of I-70 you cruising on.....Howard County?
By p m on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 04:10 pm: Edit |
ten seconds is fair. not on I70, though, even going downhill - no balls. 55 in the 2nd gear going towards the tunnel, in either direction.
i think my rangie just slashed nearly 1/2 of its 0-60 time after getting an operational vac.advance!

Nawwwwwww....I only went up to between 105-110. That was with stock suspension, air damn, and more roadworthy tires. Now the beast shakes like a sonuvabitch around 75. I think I'm still having lift-related rear-driveshaft issues. Damn.

are you sure now bluegill. i will have to go back and check ya know. that or put out rumors that you had a shoot out with some mexican locals.
mine is still smooth up to 90 mph, but i don't think i want to push it. these things are not meant for speed. now that i have my rack and lights up there i really doubt i could get much past that.
hope once i get my new springs on that will stay the same.

I believe I said I pulled 107 runnin from the Federales in Mexico. I was joking about the Federales part. You can't outrun bullets, which is what you'll get if you try. But now, with that magic 3rd light in front, you never know....
Silver bullet...LOL

I drove I-70 from Va to Colorado but the fastest stretch was somewhere near the Co border. My rig doesn't shake at any speed. The 80-90 that I do weekly is from Vail to Glenwood springs. And I have 160,000+ miles on it...guess it just gets better with age. It wouldn't surprize if the speedometer is off at High speeds...that's how my motorcycle was when I used to race it..Top speed 180mph

2000 Discovery top speed is 106 mph, how does one with less power acieve over 120 mph? Dony believe the hype, speedos are not accurate over 85 mph

i performed the stick head out window, face forward, and spit test.
By gp (Garrett) on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 11:31 am: Edit |
sure glad you used that 'head' for the spit test out the window. the other version could have gotten just down right ugly.

I have a 2001 Disco2 ACE.. Off the lot as a pimp mobile i got it to 120 easy.. drove like a sports car.. now that I have converted it to a tractor i think 85 (struggling) is the highest i got it.. It struggles going over 58mph though. I'm getting a valve job done tomorrow (warranty) and we'll see.

Pimps have to drive fast to evade johnny law. Farmers like us don't need speed so much.
