Hello all. I am new to this site and fairly new with LR's (1.5 years now). I have been working on MG's since I was a kid so keeping up with the Disco has been pretty straight forward. I just have one question though. I am using the Disco to low my 69 MGB up to Richmond, Va from Austin, Tx and I was wondering if there is anything I should look out for or check in the Disco before I go. The LR has is a 96SE7 with 75K on her now. I keep up with all the maintance with just a few concerns (like a pop when I turn the wheels when she is cold. Yes I checked everything underneath and it still looks good). If anyone has some good advice about a pre towing check I would be really grateful.

Thanks!

Shouldnt be a problem, I towed my 73 MGB with my 96SE7 from Columbus, GA to Dillard, GA (only about 6 hours, a little less than you). There werent any problems, except the rear of the truck sagged a whole lot. I used a U-haul trailer, not enclosed. However, I would check around before you go, because I am not the authority on these types of things.

I will be using the U-Haul trailor as well. I towed the B home yesterday from a friends house (about 50 miles) and everything seemed ok. I had to tow the B about 2 months ago from Houston when the engine blew in the MG and everything seemed ok until I parked the LR for the night with the trailor still attached. When I woke up in the AM I found a nice big puddle of PS fluid under the LR. I checked for the usual cracked hoses etc, and found nothing. I refilled the fluid and it has not leaked a bit since. Ok now the LR is acting British and marking her spot =-) It does seem like there are a few LR owners with a LBC sitting in the garage. Too bad I had to sell the 70BGT I had a few months ago but I still have the other MG as a toy. Now it just needs to get the cancer on the body replaced.
Now a ?? about the lean of the body. I was thinking of trying to go ahead and replace the stock shocks before I go with either some Bilstein or a Rancho setup. I don' think they would help too much though.

I think that some stiffer springs would help more than new shocks, I am thinking about going with RTE. Cant help you on the PS fluid leaking, mine was fine.
My dad had 2 MGBS (66 and 69) while he was in the air force, now we have just my 73 (recently restored), but are looking for a cheap chrome bumper BGT to restore. It would be interesting to see how many disco owners have LBCs alongside their trucks.

I used MY 96 SE7 for boat duty this summer around Lake Tahoe. The Garwood is ~3800lbs and It handled it with out a problem. I still used the F250 to pull her over Donner Summit (7200 ft) buy on flat ground she is fine.

Ok now I am jealous about that boat! Further down the line when I am out of a apartment and have a house.... (main reason why the B is going home to my father). I am planning on replacing the springs all around when I am back from this trip. My LR has had a easy life so I know they are still in good shape.
Frank, I bought my 70BGT here about 2 years ago in San Marcus, Texas ($700). Multi-colored but no rust and a strong engine. If it was not for a move from a house to a apartment I would still have it.

Yea Garrett There is a resurant called Garwoods. It's in Carnelian Bay. The brewery was called Bluewater Brewing Co. BBC was in Tahoe City and closed in 1996. The drive from Tahoe City to Carnelian Bay is about 6 miles. Right next door to Garwoods is a great place to see and Buy woodies. Here is the link:

thats the place!! it was closed when we were at BBC for dinner, so all we could do is press our faces and hands against the windows and leave drool marks. to bad the brewery closed. was a cool place. i took 4 weeks+ and drove all over CA. took a day and drove around Lake Tahoe as well that day. what a great drive. i had a friend living in Truckee (sp?). but what a great trip. will have to make it out there again some day.

:)
