After putting on RTE Front&Rear arms about a month ago, I had a driveline vibe. Waiting for my springs to see what would happen I went ahead and ordered new shafts from GBR DC Front And a standard U-joint for the rear to replace the Roto Flex. After putting on the 2"RTE springs this weekend, The vibe was still there. I replaced the front driveshaft today and now it is Gone. The rear will be replaced this Friday (Centralizing Peg is a Bitch to get out,Dealer.will use their Tool)
I know every Disco is different but want anyone who is thinking about doing what I did. They may need to replace the front driveshaft.
Also put on 235/85 Rover RT's Anyone thinking about putting on that size tire DO IT. One it looks great and I have not noticed that much power loss (onroad Hills)
Will post Pics in the future.

How hard was it to put on the front shaft? Was it just unbolt the old and bolt on the new? Was the price for the front one reasonable?

Yes , unbolt the old shaft. Bolt on adapter , then bolt in new shaft. No big deal. Talk to Bill about a new style shaft that may be coming out. I am not sure how far off it is..

Michael, Looking forward to those pics. Also, with 235/85, do you need any trimming? Thanks

Eric Like Kyle said. Price $399 from GBR that does include the adapter.
Ed Yes there will be trimming will do that this week. Plenty of post in the past about trimming should not be bad. I'm sure I'll trim more than needed. don't let that stop you from getting 235/85's looks great Pics don't do justice.

Hey MTB or anyone:

Is that damn centralizing peg supposed to be anchored over the pinion nut in any way?

I replaced my roto a while back, but I'm still having vibes in the rear driveshaft. When I first dropped the rear dshaft, the centralizing peg was loose in it's hole. When I put the new roto in and reinstalled the rear dshaft, I placed the centralizing peg back in it's place, but it was not anchored in in any way.

Last night, I pulled it all apart again, and it appears that the centralizing peg has enough play to move forward about 3/4" as the dshaft angle changes. The peg is eating that damn dshaft inner bushing again. The peg has a threaded hole runnin down it's center, but I thought that was for a pull-tool.

To add injury to insult, I slipped a wrench while torquing the roto bolts and popped myself in the mouth. Nice blood splatter down my shirt and attractive fat lip today. Thought I knocked my damn front tooth out at first. Now this is war.

sounds more like it was a domestic dispute!!! too many hours playing with the truck will get her pissed i guess :)

but on a more serious note blue, did you get the vibes once you put on your OME goodies or was this more recent? just asking since i am finally putting on my OME springs this weekend. HD fronts/MD's on the back.

and did you put spacers in to compensate for the lean. i think you have a '96 like me.

O" LOL @ BLUEGILL, damn thing happened to me also, must've been the evil thoughts running through your mind, and spewing out your mouth. Rovers have a way of correcting their owners misdeeds, and awful frustrated comments. Bandage you mouth and lip with a Discoweb.org sticker, use the little one, the big one my stick to your eyebrows...

GP. Every rover is different and you never know.. Your roto flex may be fine and your front could cause you vibes. Your front could be fine and your Roto flex could vibe. Or worst case that both the front and the rear cause vibes... You never really know till you lift it and then drive it.

here's the quick:

Stock susp = dshafts & roto fine

OME HD front & MD rear = dshafts & roto fine FOR 5 MONTHS. Roto failed after extremely heavy off-road outing.

Replace MD rear with HD rear and also replaced roto & interiour dshaft bushing at the same time = vibes @ 70+ mph in rear dshaft. Front dshaft is fine.

Took it all apart, inspected, and put it back together tonight = no vibes up to 75 mph (didn't go faster), but tiem will tell if vibes come back.

94Rover - LOL, I was bitching up a storm and my Disco slapped me upside for my insolence.

So, any input on my peg issue???

Blue,

I feel you pain!

A couple of months ago I was putting a new battery in the Disco, and discovered that there isn't a handle on the original battery, nor enough room to get a hand under there...

Instead of being smart and going and buying a two-dollar lifting strap, I grabbed two pairs of channel-locks to grab the terminals... Half-way up out of the hole, slip... BAM!! When they slipped, the back of the channel-locks hit me right across the nose... I 'knew' I had broke it... luckily, no, I was fine after a few minutes, but oh, my nose was sore for two weeks afterwards....
