I'm considering the purchase of a '97 or '98 Disco and need some advice from the experts. What should I look for (typical problem areas, one year better than the other, maximum miles on purchase date, etc.). I saw a reference to the Roverguy extended warranty, any experience with that warranty?
Thanks in advance.

IMHO, you're doing good to consider a '98 or one of the '99 SD the last of the Series I Discos...
I'd make sure you get the history and see if it's a problem-free Rover, or if it's had problems. If it's had problems, were they little things, or serious problems? Also, many times, someone got a Rover, put up w/ fixing all of the things, and then gave up and sold it off, and the new ownder ended up with a (relatively) trouble-free Rover at a good price.
If possible, find a Rover nut nearby, or a good Rover shop at least, to go over it and see if there are any trouble spots or not...
Good luck!

Also, keep a closed eye on maintenence records. I bought a 89 lease return that probably never had a bit of maintenence work done short of changing the oil (if that). I changed everything twice within two months of buying it, and it has been trouble free since.
I may have gotten a little lucky, but I'm still knocking on wood.
