need input on sliders -
mantec or safari gard. being on the left coast these seem to be the best to options for me right now - cost is a big consideration as i can pick these up 'locally' vs shipping
thanks

What about Bearmach? I haven't seen anyone with them, but DAP has them for $220 with about $30 shipping. You might want to check those out Steve. Anybody got any experience or comments with these?

DAP-inc. Their stuff is pretty much all Bearmach.
Out of the list you've got, I'd go Rovertym.
IMHO, YMMV.....

Steve-
Check here - http://www.dap-inc.com/ - you have to download their catalog (in .pdf format). There are pics in there. I think, although I have been unable to confirm (through Bearmach, TerrainMaster or DAP) that the Bearmach and TerrainMaster stuff is the same. I think TerrainMaster just re-brands it as their own. The winch bumpers and rock-sliders look identical.
I would like to hear some opinions of people with first-hand experience with them, because if price is any kind of concern, they would have to really suck not to be worth $220.00. I don't do any crazy off-roading, and if they will provide more protection then the stock POS molding, they might be just the thing for me. Especially if weight is a concern, as it is with me. I am going to try to keep from going under 10 mpg, and I know some of those sliders get pretty heavy.

i got on the DAP site - went to accessories and about the second page are the sliders for $220 - they look a bit klunky though - and seem to be about an inch thicker then a competative slider -
am going to talk to rockware and have sent an email to terrain master (it looks different then the DAP ones) and see what's doing.
thanks for the heads up....
steve
ps got my clevis mounts and shackles for the arb -should work out great!! nov 15th..... sell a kidney!

Steve and Ron - that pic isn't accurate - I spoke to DAP and they said they have that slider, but it is now black nylon coated.
I assume this is the pic you are referring to:

Does RoverTym still make a light-duty version of there sliders? I could not find them on the website.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Sliders to order...make them like you want.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
John,
As I said above, price and weight are considerations. I think your regular sliders might be a bit of overkill in each category considering that I do light-medium offroading with very little rock crawling. Also, I have no real need for the nerf-bars or outriggers (whatever thay are called). What can you do that might be lighter and less expensive? I am mostly concerned about protecting the doors from underneath while not getting too heavy.
I know from your reputation that your stuff is the best out there, I just thought it might be more than I required, and I also figured a custom job might be even more expensive.

Marc,
At one point John re-arranged his web-site a bit, and the lite-sliders don't show up in the product-list if you go through the menu at the top... but if you go down the update list and hit lite-slider, it takes you to the earlier version of his pages that includes them....

There ya go!

THANK YOU! I knew I wasn't crazy! That is what I had in mind. Thanks Again.

Ah,
1/8" is too weak IMHO
Why not ask John to make a regular set sans the nerf bars.
Ron
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Sliders to order...thats what I mean...I can make my sliders w/o nerf bars, with or without the thru bolting of sills and angle on back of sills , black or green, etc(lol). Just ask and I just do. Pricing is always cheaper than the full blown set. Custom with sliders means less cost in this case.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Those nerf bars have to be major labor eh John.
How about with 3"x3" 1/4" wall square tubing, that would be cool. and 4"x4" 1/4" thick angle behind the sils with 1/2" though bolts.
Ron
PS feel free not to answer if it is a trade secret but how do you bend the steel for the curve?
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Then I could not use my slip in slider step, thats the best part of the sliders...lol
Yes, the nerf bars are very labor intensive.
3x3 on special request...just ask and I...
just do it...lol
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
John,
Regarding custom sliders, how about standard slider in 1/8" steel instead of current 1/4" to cut weight?
Red
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
just ask, I will...just do it...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
John said before in an earlier post that the standard sliders he makes weigh in at +/- 65 lbs each. If 1/8" steel is used that could be reduced to maybe 40 lbs a side. Sounds good. What about the 1/8" steel? Too thin?
Red
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
To get to your weight you need no nerf bars , my lites are about 25 lbs, but just riv-nut attachment. Now lites with 1/2" thru bolt and angle iron behind sills would fall in there..
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Now you're talkin'
No problem with the 1/8" steel? What kind of price and time frame you think?
Red

For Marc, with no wish to become embroiled in the who's are best debate i would just like to set the record straight.we manufacture our own sidesills(rocksliders)in our own factory in the UK we do not re badge other manufacturers products nor i believe do they re badge ours,as to you being unable to confirm your assertions through ourselves or others please confirm when you actualy contacted us for such confirmation if you have as i suspect not done so please do, we are only too pleased to supply any information on our products to those who ask for it,and if you are ever in the UK i will personaly show you the sills or other products being made.Sorry for the interuption in the debate i look forward to the outcome.

Call me Red...and Kevin, no "who's best" is going on..just questions, answers, opinions and most important, information.

Kevin,
I have sent e-mails to you guys at least 5 times at the address on your webpage (off the top of my head, I think it is [email protected]). I received no response, although some of the e-mails were bounced back to me (and some were not). In the e-mails, I asked for information on the sliders and the winch bumper, including cost of shipping to US, payment method, and the obviously offensive "bearmach question." To be honest the winch bumper looks more like the Bearmach than the sliders - that was what really got me thinking along those lines. Also, I tried to confirm with Bearmach, and they directed me to their US distributor DAP, who could not tell me if they were the same, although they were sure that their bumper was manufactured by Bearmach. Thus, I reached the conclusion that your bumper and sliders might be made by Bearmach.
Here are the pictures I refer to:
The Bearmach;
and the Terrain Master;
Anyway, that was how I came to the idea. I am sorry if I have offended you, that was not my intent. I am sure your bumper and sliders are quite good, actually, that was why I tried to e-mail you in the first place. I wanted to buy both. I gave up after being unable to reach you. To be honest, you did answer my first e-mail - I think you did personally. That was about 5-6 months ago, and I just recently decided to buy, so I checked back with you and could not get a response for the past 2 months.
Again, sorry for any offense and if I jumped the gun, but you can see the similarities, and I did try to confirm with you and Bearmach.

Kevin Pearson of Terrain Master:
Does Terrain Master have a US distributor?
Thanks,
