Is there a trick or secret for keeping the entire shock from spinning when I try to tighten the nuts on the bottom ends? I've looked through the archives.... read the great article on the subject and nothing seems to work. I tried using a huge pair of pliers... still spins. I bought a socket that fits the rectangular tab at the bottom end of the shock, but the nut is in the way. ???
Thanks
Joe

use a small crescent wrench to hold the rectangular tab, or hold the shock body with one hand and tighten with the other. If there's not enough thread available, jack the axle back up to seat and compress the upper bushing a little. It'll expose more threads. It was much fun the first time I put one on.

I used a set of wide mouth vice grips (mole grips in the UK) to hold the shock body. Clamp down enough to hold, but not damage and let the handle rest against the tire. Then I used a 9/16th or whatever size open-ended wrench to pull the nut. I think next time (in a couple weeks actually) I will try to find one of those nifty ratchet wrenches that will fit.
