I saw a D1 yesterday with wheel arch trim or flares. Does anyone know where I can find this trim? The one I saw yesterday was very nice and not some Kmart BOBO trim.

Anybody know the tire size?
By J584btgoat (J584btgoat) on Thursday, November 08, 2001 - 09:49 am: Edit |
Thanks for all of the help. I think that I should have focused more on TRIM instead of flares. All of the pics that I'm finding are of flares. I'm looking for black plastic trim that will outline the wheel arch. Most of the D2s have this trim. I did see it on a D1.

Mike, that's a DII, not a DI.
I'd like to find some for my DI also. Wonder if the DII's will fit?

Those are exactly what I was looking for! So, these are a stock LR item. Anyone know about a DIY job on these? Should be simple.
By Ron on Thursday, November 08, 2001 - 04:07 pm: Edit |
I believe it is DIY if you want. (common sense, clean WELL to get rid of wax etc)
I think they are just stick on with 3m tape stuff.

The curves and body indentations dont match the D-1, better look at those close because I dont think they will work like you wish.

John those are made for a DI. They seem to be popular in the NY metro area. Saves the doors from dings.

gottcha, the disco I models, I just didnt like the way they dont go to the bottom and hard plastic as well, but too late now, nothing fits mine, lol.
By Ron on Thursday, November 08, 2001 - 04:28 pm: Edit |
The soft plastic sucks. It "turns" and falls apart.
The benefit of it not going all the way down is you can trim the bottom where ereryone does and not mess with moving the trim.
It helps. They give more protection than you would think. Still ghetto but some people like them
You know they stick out 3/4"-1" so maybe they would get those jeep tires of your legal

Ron, with all that broken stuff you got, is there a RE winch or winch frame in the discard pile?
By Nathan Hindman on Thursday, November 08, 2001 - 06:06 pm: Edit |
The side molding/wheel arch kits for the Disco Is have been discontinued from the LRNA catalog. I konw b/c I tried to locate a set this past summer for my Disco. Your best bet is to buy a set from the other side of the pond and have is shipped over.
Last I heard Land Rover Supermarket had them for sale - £199 for a complete set, and they ship to the US.
Part number is:
STC7629
As to the attachment of these kits, it mounts through the attachment holes used for the standard LR side molding, like these: http://discoweb.org/moab2000/pr181.JPG
Hope that helps,
Nathan Hindman

John, if you are after an RE winch mount, what Pierce has to offer may be compatible. They have a broken winch mount for $64. The mounting points might be exactly the same as the RE. I can fax you details from the RE manual if you need.

I've got a Ramsey hidden winch mount brand new, in the box, sitting in my basement. Bought the thing and then decided to buy an ARB. Anyone wanna buy it??? I think it's part number 295166 and they don't make them anymore.
