Been looking at everything and really had my heart pointing towards 255/70/16 sizing. I know most of you are pretty hardcore and can't stand anything AT related but until I am going off road more often and getting stuck due to weak tires an AT just makes more sense for me. Today I found the new Geolander AT+II by Yokohama. Looks like a well rounded tire and decided to order some. Then I looked at the inflated spec size and it looks like they run a little small. I was thinking of going with their 265/70/16 which is 10.9 inches wide and 30.7 inches around when inflated. I haven't been able to find this kind of info on other tires. Can some of you guys give me your measurements/tire name/amount of trimming (none preferable)??? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Count on trimming for anything 245/75-16 or bigger, as stated in the tech section. For a lot of info on different tires, check out: http://www.rangerovers.net/rrtires.htm

Tom,
I've read a few people that said 245/75/16 wasn't an issue (just barely) with the 2" Rovertym (or similar)lift. I have the Rovertym. Of course all disco's are different as I have found out. I guess I'm just a wimp who doesn't want to go hacking at the body if I don't have to but I don't want to stay in 235/70 shoes either. Guess I'll have to just grin and bear it. Thanks.

MarkII,

I think the wider you go the worse off you are. I have seen 245 75s on a DI with 2in RTEs and there is some minimal trimming, but if you go any wider you will 1. Be negatively impacting your turning radius 2. May need to trim the lip on the inside as well as at the rear. I would go with 245 75 R16s, if you are iffy on trimming. I am sure you can find the tire of your choice in that size.

Tom thanks for the great link - very interesting. looking at the following selection from that page it looks like this tire might work fine (for the most part) on a Rangie but how do Rangie's compare to Discos? and what does it mean by trimming the inner fender well?? When people talk about trimming is everyone talking about that little bit from the rear corner of the rear wheel well (basically on the side of the body)? and is it the lip that folds in that is causing the prob on bigger tires or is it the body part of the fender itself?? sorry for all the questions guys. Thanks.

265/70R16 should just about fit, although based on my 255/70 tests I suspect some rubbing might be experienced on full
articulation due to the extra width. The most likely spot for rubbing is the inside of the rear wheelwell. Available all-terrain designs
are the Bridgestone Dueller AT, and according to the Dunlop website the Radial Rover AT, although when I tried to purchase a set
of these recently the local Dunlop dealer could not find them. I was also interested in the Super Swamper SSR in this size, but found
it was much bigger than most makers' 265/70's. It was even bigger than most 265/75R16 tires, with a diameter of 31.5 inches and a
tread width of 9 inches!

will 33 x 12.50 r 15's fit on a disco with 2 inch ome kit and 2" spaCERS, about 4 in overall?

disco man!
well, that is what i am gradually working on...i have 5" rear and 3" front...soon to be 4" in front...
i will be going for TSL 33x12.5 15...but i will be cutting a lot and gettting the wheelbase up to around 102"
everything is theoretical now

Nadim, What do you mean by cutting alot? Where and how much would be needed for the fitment of 33's? how much lift would i need to clear 32's? How much more room under my diffs will 33's give? 32's? Thanx man

ok....you asked...so sudder the math!

with 205/80 16s, you have 8.4 inches...now these are like 29" tall, so with 33s, you will get 2" more under the diff....i have 32.2s, and realistically i have measured 10" under the diffs...

now, with 32.2" tall, on stock alloys, that is the limit with the stock 100" wheel base...with 3" front (soon to be 4") and 5" rear of lift, there was rubbing in the rear quarter pannel, which i cut off!...

for my 33s to fit, they measure 33.7" tall, nearly 2" wider, so i have to push them out....well, the best solution i have come to is to push the rear axle rearwards for 1", and the front axle frontwards 1" as well...using something similar to the RT links front and rear...

so their height is accomodated, but their width is not, and that is something i will test on the spot!...with 15x8 rims and no offset...(4" in, 4" out!)

that is where you might need to cut!

if you want more detail, please ask!

Has anyone senn those simex Jungle trekker II tires? Where can i pick a set of these up? read the article on these tires on the d-90 page and they are proven!!!

Simex Jungle Trekkers are not available in the US. I looked really hard. If you find out otherwise let me know as they look even better than Haegs for the 110. They also don't seem to come in any sizes that would fit a disco.

For any DSIIs following these questions, your rig is completely different. Larger wheelwells. I have the 40mm OME lift and run 33x10.5x16 Super Swamper TSL Radials with zero rubbing. No swaybars. Mod front bumper

Stock DSIIs can go to 245/75s and OME'd to 265/75s without any other alterations. You will just barely touch at the bottom trailing edge of the front fascia on rare occasion.
