Anybody ever heard of them? Are they good? Etc, etc, etc. The reason I am asking is that there is a small article on them in the Nov edition of LRO. They have come out with two new cams for the 4.0/4.6. One will give 35 bhp while the other will give 20 bhp and increase mid-range torque. Sounds good for tackling those steep and long winding passes. Opinions appreciated!

I have only seem them on the RPI site. I sent them mail asking for a spec card , so that I could plug the numbers into my desktop dyno software. I never saw anything from them. Let us know what you find.

Put a piper in my 94 disco with the rpi chip to go with it....added plenty of power to my 3.9...would highly recommend.

I had a piper cam in my MGB, they are good in MG's, so probably good in a Rover. I really liked it, and they do exactly what they say int he descriptions. If they tell you low range torque with some loss at the top end, thats what you get. If you want to do a cam, I would go with piper, the quality was top notch, and very good changes in power. Piper is better known in the UK, as the US companies usually copy the old factory cams from the UK. THE Uk cams are generally a better bet for UK engines.

Oldscout,
I only have one other tidbit of info other than the output specs. The duration of one cam is 285. While the other is at 270. Its not great, but maybe you can use it. I'll keep trying.

They make a solid lifter stick for the 3.9 ? The hydraulics really dont do much from past experience....

the one thing i learned about cams on vw's was is basically you are stealing power from one area and moving it to another - i would be very hesitant about installing a cam without a print out of what it supposedly does.

i had 16v race cams in my passat with a chip. the bastard would rev up to 7000 rmps like a race car but idle like crap - do you really think a cam in a disco would do any good?

what do they run? gbs or usd?
thanks
steve

Kyle were are you going to get adjustable rockers to run the Solid cam?

Dont need to get em , there are ways around it. Rollers are better cause the lash stays right. But they arent a necesity...

There are also plenty of shaft mounted adjustable rollers. Infact , you could jsut increase the ratio and get a little bigger cam right there. Without even changing it.. :)
