I have a 95 tdi ES auto. The original fan has been replaced with a kenlowe. A problem that has been occuring lately is that the air con cuts in when the ambient air temp is warm. The temp gauge never goes further than halfway and it dosn't matter whether or not the kenlowe has also cut in.
Fluid level is correct. It also occurs when travelling at speed This happens even if the air con is not switched on. This is accompanied by a noticable drop in engine power. Any ideas please?

I'd be checking the A/C switch in the dash first, it may be loose/broken/going out. If the wire that turns on the A/C compressor is somehow getting power inside the switch due to a short or something but not the power to the fan you'd loose power when your compressor turned on but your A/C would not fully be on because your fan is not blowing.
