This sounds like a bad F.O.R.D. joke - wife just called and said Disco is completely dead, won't do a thing. No start, no headlights, no interior lights, no radio, no electrical pulse whatsoever. Other than quirky rear windows that usually don't work (but sometimes do, always as a pair), it's been driving fine. She drove about 10 miles after work, parked in a driveway, and now it's dead.

Leaving the office now to go kick the shit out of it; hoping for enlightment via discoweb.

Thanks,
Blue

"Hi, I'd like you to meet everyone's favorite dead guy, Joseph Lucas, say hello Joe"

Battery leads and grounds, if the battery is still good.

1. Go drink a few of these beers:
DGA
2. check the 100amp fuse under the hood.
3. let us know what you find.
4. more beer

Everytime that's happened to me, it's been when I've gotten lazy and let the battery posts get cruddy. Clean the terminals, and I've gotten back in business.

A loose ground would be a likely culprit too, IMO.

Good luck!!

1. Main fuse
2. battery terminals
3. set it on fire and run to a payphone! (to call FD so they can call you an you can notify insurance) just kidding :-)

It's ok man. The big stuff is the easiest to diagnose. All it could be is a battery lead/connection that's bad or the main fuse. At least it's not "everytime I put it in reverse the wheel turns left, the wipers go on and the headlights die!"

FALSE ALARM. Sorry guys - on the phone the wife said her father had tested battery (that's whose driveway she was stopped in). What she meant to say was he was going to test battery. My unending Rover saga means nothing to her. Dead as Joe Lucas. When batteries go south here in Phx, they just up & die real quick. Guess what my wife is getting for our anniversary next week?...........

Thanks for the beer suggestions. You'll be pleased to know I got to Dad-in-law's house, cracked a beer with him, jumped Disco, let it run while we had another beer, and I just got home, cracked a beer, filled cells with water, and hooked up the sado-masochistic battery charger.

Oh, you've had that problem too?

Shit man,

What problem haven't I had? I drove from Iowa 80 (biggest truck stop in US) to Omaha with a blown main fuse. When I got to Omaha, the lights didn't work. Got the headlights to work, thanks to some tricky Rover preventative wiring, but no tail lights or breaklights. I used the rear fogs until I got to Denver, where my motor ate shit on the highway...

hehe,
It's a disease!
Brian

ps, get your wife a yellow top with a bow on top for your anniversary!
