I recently bought a 2000 DiscoII and I want to build it up into a trail rig. I am not sure what bull bar to get. I have been looking at the Trek Outfitters bumper, is this any good? Thanks for the help.

I saw the Trek bumper at RoverFest this past summer. Looks rather nice - alot like an ARB. Some of the feedback about Trek has been relatively positive, although some of their prices seem rather high.

I don't have personal experience with the Trek but I do have experience with the RoverTym. Simply bulletproof, worth the money and not too expensive comparatively speaking.

Although John at RTE does not have a production D2 bumper available yet (my understanding is that it is in development), I suggest patience and get an RTE when it becomes available. Worth every penny.

Another option is Greg Davis. Maybe he has a front bumper for a DII. I think this rear bumper he made looks like a work of art. If it performs well, it should be a huge success for DII's.

When do you think the RTE bumper will be completed?

Tom, thanks for the compliments on my bumper. Future includes a front bumper as well, but due to a newborn and an honest job each day, just don't have the time right now.

Gil, I made that. Have sold several. Will have pics very soon of new version that has sliders to protect rear quaters. Greg Hren added his own to the above pic since I hadn't done them yet when he got that bumper.

You're welcome, Greg. The use of the round lights was a great idea. Makes me think of how they combine 'retro' styling with modern styling on newer cars for a really pleasing effect.

Gil, thanks. I appreciate it.

Art, I'm always willing to take a look. To be honest, it wouldn't be until after Christmas though. I have a list of bumpers to make for DSII's, plus the holidays. E-mail me offlist. We can schedule some time to go over what you want.

Tom, Greg Hren added the lights, rubber pads, and D rings. I typically tell people to rewire their brake lights to serve as the indicators as well as the brake lights. Has worked well for me and gives fewer lights to worry about.

Trek Outfitters stuff is ideal if you do not want to cut metal. Easy to install, solid. I have front and rear also the sliders. I have jacked the truck up several times from behind rear wheel and no flex or problems at all. I also ordered the trek skid plates (a new item) and should have them on next week.
