My front drive shaft front ujoint has cracked apart. Can someone outline replacing it, I have the new u joint ...what tools do I need to put in the new ujoint( 30000lb press, rover tool lt***? ) I have the driveshaft pulled already and would prefer to buy a new tool if needed over paying someone to do what seems to be an easy switch. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

I've always used the "two socket" method If you have a large vise and a selection of sockets, you should be ok.
1) remove circlips (worst part of the job)
2) choose one socket large enough for u-joint cap to pass into and one that will pass through the driveshaft portion
3) open vise really wide and place the large socket against on jaw - put one dimension of the u-joint in and then the smaller socket on the other side pressing the opposite cap. Helps to have a second person hold up the driveshaft
4) Close the vice and the small socket will force the u-joint out the other side into the large socket.
5) repeat for other side of the u-joint
6) knock out caps left in driveshaft with a punch or similar
7) clean up bores on the shaft and press in new joints the same way.
Or - just run down to you local driveline shop and they'll do it for about $15.00
Hope this helps
