Previously, I inquired about suspension setups...and I think I'm looking at OME HD in front and rear. I was told to look at 4X4 Connection, who I thought would be cheaper, but their kit is $659.00 or something like that whereas Atlantic British has the kit for about $570.00. Now, I don't know a shock from a hole in the ground, so I'm wondering if these are the same "kits". Does one have more components than the other...AND, will these have all I'll need to set it up? I only ask, because sometimes talk of just shocks and springs, evolves into talk about cones, anti-sway bars, shock towers, etc...and honestly, I don't know what all this stuff is for. Dorky, I know, I'm only now getting into really working on my truck, so...consider me a novice. Any help is REALLY appreciated!

John, you might want to look at what 4x4 connection calls a full kit. I think that gives you the damper, castor kit, and spring shim things.. I say this as if you go to their site and just add up the price for 4 springs and 4 shocks it is only $511.46 before sales tax or shipping depending on where you live. Of course I'm sure E.E. like Blue suggested will give you a good deal too..

yeah, that's right - "KIT" may include steering stabilizer/dampner (which you want if you're still running stock) and castor correction kit (which you don't want).

Save your money and just buy OME 762 rears and the shocks/damper if you must and do the cheap bastard lift.

The rest of the stuff is superfoulous the castor correct bushings are crap.

I have read some of these threads, and must admit, there is some appeal to the cheap bastard method, to a working class boy trying to pay the bills. Would such a setup provide more flex, lift, etc.? I am looking more for performance than high priced looks and recognition, although I will probably pay the requisite price for the performance,..sob, sniffle,...damn these addictive machines! Thanks for all the help!

Ok here is the deal:

For all intents and purposes you get the same lift by putting your stock rears in front as you would from OME HD 751 fronts.

As far as shocks, well . . . they are majorly subjective. I would install the springs with whatever you have now (check the shocks while they are out to see if they still function) and then decide which way you want to go.

As far as the damper my advice would be to get a relocation kit and not to reuse the stock location or waste your money on a new stock style one (although if you are somewhat motivated you can make a relocation kit for a stock disco damper).

Thanks for the help! Pardon me if I sound dense, but what the hell is a damper?...relocation kit, uh...I, uh...I well, I don't know what that is! I am at least somewhat motivated and will do many things to save a little money ( which must be put into gas!). Does anyone have any pictures? I think I can do this stuff, I just need to be introduced to it...I think! :-)

Damper relocation. All the kits are variations on the same theme.

Don't buy anything until you figure out what is going on you might kick yourself and be like why did I think I wanted/needed that?
