I live in Scottdale AZ and am looking for an individual or shop that will help me with trimming my rear 1/4 panel for 235/85 16 tires.
Thanks!
Roger

roger - having just done it myself -
tools needed
blue masking tape
black felt pen
dremel with h/d cutting disc
fine metal file
ruler
1: install blue tape on area to be cut.
2: measure 1.5" back from opening of wheel arch from bottom most horizontal line of flat panel.
3: connect this dot up to the side moulding lower point (note i have the side moulding/fender flare combo) you should have a isocoles (sp?) looking triangle shape.
4: using appropriate safety gear (googles, gloves etc) use the dremel and h/d disc to cut the panel on the inside of the black line (so your effective cutting area is actually 1.25" inwards) for the area inside the fender i made a 45 degree upward cut from the top point of the triangle and for the area below the triangle rearward point - just a vertical cut.
5: finish area with a fine metal file.
admire your courage and bravery for hacking up your car!! this is also known as the CT cut - or as seen on the camel trophy cars.
steve
ps - i then installed 235-85s with out a lift and so far without a problem!

Hey Roger, I live in Scottsdale and my white 96 has cut rear quarters to fit my 245's. Where are you located? You're welcome to check it out anytime.

aw shit. you should see what I can do with a metal file. would suggest hi-speed dremmel or air-powered wheel or reciprocating saw though...

Thanks! I get more laughs from this site than I do from askmen.com's joke site! I give this a try. Thanks again!

I am also preparing my 97 disco for some cutting and what I am looking for is a picture of before and after. Cutting the frrront bumper corners was just dull, I want more.
