For a 4-pack of roof-mounted 4000's, does anyone have a recommendation for a good combination of Euro, pencil, turning or fogs? (and is the oft-called 'driving light' the same thing as the Euro?)
TIA,
Dean

gee since you made fun of me on the other post i'm a little hesitant to help (boo hoo hoo!)
i'd do euro in the middle - cornering on the sides
fogs are a waste IMHO on the 4000s. if you want fogs - get a fog lamp - like the ff75's

steve, thats'a good combo.
for the truckhaven type places, i am thinking more like 4 pencil beams up there.
and bring down the cornering beams to the bumper...
what do you think?

Eeeeeek!

my "yellow pimp lights" truckhaven experiment was a total failure. But they illuminated my front recovery points nicely when John & I were hooking up his winch. Perhaps I should rename them "recover my dumb ass lights".

I have every beam pattern on mine. The fogs up top are nice along with the pencils in the center. Euros on the bumper......

Now I have bumper lights too! Thanks Kyle
Sorry steve! Kinda heated, wasn't it. What does UYYBT mean (or don't I want to know!)
So, assuming its pretty simple to interchange them, if I get 4 up top, you're saying Euros in middle, and cornering on the outsides. Sounds like a plan. Pencils I am not sure what they look like - is it just like a couple of bright dots two miles away?
Like the idea of Brian's tracer-bullet cable (in case it breaks I presume)
Thanks a lot.
Ok one quick question....Can two relays run off one switch?

yes

I'd suggest staying away from the pencils. I have one in the middle on the bumper and it's pretty much worthless except on roads that are straight for miles.
The cornering beams are the hot setup - just point 'em a little out to the sides.

Yes , you get in some wide open space and the two pencils up top kick ass. Also , you are making one light out of them all really so you adjust it by the types of beams you buy.

Would 4 Euros on roof rack and 3 euros on brush bar work just as well?
By han chung on Saturday, November 17, 2001 - 01:39 pm: Edit |
dean,
i have 2 corner beams on the corners and 2 euro's on the center. looks nice and functions well. like you said i think the pencils are like 2 dots make that 10 miles away. euro's are pretty concentrated and focused so i can only imagine the pencils being even more than euros.
2 relays in one switch is what i have. no problem there.
warren,
7 euros!!! damn, you can melt a soft top j**p w/ that. i think you'll have some dark spots and not enough coverage close range. i'd use at least a couple cornering beams w/ that set up to spread the light a bit, these beams are very wide and they'll ligh up your sides nicely. corner and euros on top and point the euros a bit high for long range and 3 euros up front point a bit lower than the euros on top, that should give nice coverage.

Thanks - I'll spend 1,300 dollars on lights to get the pleasure of seeing a chevy avalanche melt down in front of me.

1,300 dollars for 7 lights?
I assume you're exagerating

Pencils I like in the center. Cornering on the outside.
Anything other than pencils in the center glares the heck out of you with the hood.
Alyssa likes lights. I am afraid of them. It is good to have a natural tendency against electrical accessories when you own a LR
