96 Disco SE with 90K miles.
Always serviced and maintained adequately. I recently developed a knocking sound from the engine only when the engine is cold. Unusually in the mornings. What's the problem? How to fix it? Any suggestions?

You many just have a bad bleed back valve in your oil filter.

I just changed the oil and filter (LR original) two days ago.

10-4. But, this problem started before the last oil change (2 days ago). IS there a possibility of two bad oil filters? what else could it be?

Jose,
You aren't alone. I've got a similar knocking at startup on my 98. At about 1000-1500 rpm, it's audible. At idle or above this, it's not apparent. When warm, it runs like a champ. When it's cold and has sat for a while, it knocks for a while. Has happened for quite a while, and two indepenent shops have either not heard it or dimissed it. It's happened with more than one of 3 different types of filters including genuine, and across 3 oil weights (15w-50 mobil 1, 5w-30 castrol and mobil 1, and 10w-40 castrol and regular mobil). I try and just let it warm up a bit before I start driving in the mornings.
