ahh, that's a more important question...
235/85-16 is the answer. and that's the spare tire carrier rule.:)

but you can surely modify the mount so that a larger tire can be mounted.

what would have to be done to fit 265/80 swamper to the factory mount? tire is 32.2" in DIA. Flip Carrier like on a d2? Im still trying to fig out what size tire to order. Installing rovertym 3 inch springs on thursday!

It will fit I think but, you would need to use an off-set steel rim so that the tire sticks out further from the door..

that'll clear the bumper...no problem, but the sidewall might touch the door. You can always get a spacer from www.rovertm.com
