Getting ready to install rovertym springs next week! Is a spring compressor really necessary in order to install the springs or can I just unbolt the shocks, swaybar, spring retainers and drop the axle (carefully as to not overextend the brakelines)enough to slide the springs in? I Read the tech article by Kyle, I want to keep my OME nitrocharger shocks that are allready on the truck, worried about damaging them when useing vise grips to keep shock from turning when unbolting! any advise would be helpful!

You can use a strap wrench on the shock body to hold it and you can probably get the springs in there without the bars on and not allot of cursing.
The spring compressor just makes a one man show a little easier and allot faster.

I got my spring compressor from Harbor Freight for $7.00! I didn't touch my sway-bars, left them hooked up

Hot tip - Be careful with spring compressors. Youd be amaved how far a spring can shoot.
