I've been parking my 94 Disco 1 outside for the past week due to it smelling like gas. Earlier today the service engine light went off and the cabin smelled gassy. has anybody else had this problem? Do I have a leak anywhere? Is my car safe to drive? Or is this normal when a Disco hits 52000 miles?

My guess would be your Evaporator canister is ready to be changed or you have a fuel leak.

Not that it's a common problem, but my 95 Disco has a crack in the fuel tank filler tube where it connects to the tank. I patched it once with epoxy putty and it worked for a while but it started leaking a little again lately. This problem was pretty obvious because with filling the tank and when it was full, fuel would run out of the crack, pretty hard to miss.

i think that thing pops on at 52k regardless.. you know one of those get you back to the dealer things. I think it may just be coincidence that your rig happens to reek of gas at the same time. have you or your passengers been consuming large amounts of beans??.. if so, that could account for the gassy smell..
