What is the closest to stock or a little bit over that won't require trimming in a Super Swamper? I like what they have, and i REALLY like the price, but I'm at a loss as to sizes...perhaps its the beer...

Most of the stock-size(ish) super swampers are 4-ply and their weight rating sucks, almost at the limit at the back of a loaded disco. I forget the exact size, but the one that did seem to be the best bet was a special order job and would take 3 months to deliver.

Are you sure? I just went to their site and it seems that even the wimpiest if their tires is weight rated at about 1850. That would put total rating at almost 7500 pounds. Considering the disco is about 5k, that seems like a pretty fair amount of load! I only know one person who would try to load a ton in the back of a LR and wheel, but he has s D-90.

Fully loaded weight is over 6000lbs, and at least 60% is on the back. That's at least 3600lbs back axle, or 1800 lb each tire. A bit too close for comfort. Hmm... For comparison, the BFG MT at 265/75/R16 have a rating of 3050lbs each.

I see your point. The swampers in "normal sizes" tend not to be 16" tires. They are mostly 15" tires, which usually have lower weight ratings.

Sounds like a good excuse to get 33s!
