I have just bought a 2nd hand adventure rack and have to pick it up this weekend, the guy I am buying it off wants me to remove it. Having never examined the mounting system before, I was wondering if there is anything special about removing one. I’m assuming you don’t need any special tools etc. If someone could let me know what I am in for before I get there that would be a great help.

Thanks

Let the upgrade begin…. well almost. The rack as well as the OME HD springs and OME Long Travel remote shocks that are in the shed will have to wait until the New Year to be fitted. My wife wants to be able to get into the underground parking garage for at least one more Canadian winter.

You will need hex drivers to get the rack off. If you don't strip anything, you'll be fine.
You may want to bring some WD40 to loosen the bolts, too.

In addition to Axel's hex drivers, don't forget some sockets! The mounting system uses the hex bolts to pull the rack to the gutters and the machine bolts to screw the clamps over the gutters. You'll understand when you see it.

Bring the WD-40 and definitely bring a friend or two to tag team the bolts and carry the rack off and on the discos.

When I got my D2 ARack for my D1, I had the help of three other friends and it made it so much more simpler.

2 people 20minutes, allen wrench and a smallish socket for the bolts.

WHEN YOU INSTALL IT PUT IT AS FAR FORWARD AS POSSIBLE

you will thank me later when you try to install your lights

Thanks for the help guys!

Just picked up the rack, everything went fine. I’m so glad I asked here first, I wouldn’t have thought about bringing the Hex drivers. The removal went smoothly, nothing seized, so didn’t even need the WD40. Now I will try not to torture myself for the rest of the winter by looking at the Rack, Shocks & Springs and dreaming of the summer. How likely do you think that is?

Thanks again.
