I just bought my 97 Disco SD, and I also bought the seat warmer buttons. To my under standing they are pre wired so I plug them in to the wring harness and the lights come on but the seat don't get warmer. Is there a relay or a fuse or something else I need to do to get them working?

This was discussed heavily last year.

I have a 97 Disco SD7 with electric leather seats. Mine did not come with butt warmer buttons, which, as you know can easily be added.

Yes, the wiring is there for the butt warmers, all the way from the center console to the back of the seats. It starts out with 5 wires, and ends up with two wires at the back of the seats. The other wires go through the fuse block and are for illuminating the button lights.

Sorry, "NO", the heating element is not in the seat unless you ordered heated seats. No free lunch.

If you look under the back of the seat, you'll probably find a small two-wire pigtail connector coming out of the conduit. This connects to the seat heating element pigtail, which is not there, unless you ordered heated seats with your Disco.

If you find me wrong on this, I'd sure like to know.

As for warming the seat, I find that a pot of chili beans with lots of tabasco sauce the night before keeps the flames burning all next day.

It seems to be a hit or miss situation with the 97's. We've tried on three trucks now - all SD's with leather seats. Out of the three, one has had the elements in the seats (mine wasn't one of them unfortunately!) I guess it all depends on what was available on the assembly line that day.
On another note - don't despair if you already bought the switches, panel, and relays because now you have two prewired/lit/relayed circuits for anything - air lockers, lights, etc - it all works out in the end. And to answer your other question - yes, you need to plug in two generic 30 amp relays in the appropriate sockets under the drivers seat.

OK thanks, yeah i have the two wires sticking out of the seats but i guess there is nothing to plug them in too. But i haven't put the realys in yet, is that going to do anything if i have those wires hanging out.
