thinking about installing a steering damper relocater with a d90 sterring damper on my d1.

is this a good thing or silly?
any downsides in steering feel or use?
will it affect the ps pump?

TIA

The true cheap bastard would only need off the shelf parts, a drill and a piece of 3/8"x2" flat stock.

You can make or buy the mount to the drag link. That is the hard part. The other part that mounts to the frame is just a piece of thick flat stock with three holes. You can even reuse your stock damper.

I think rancho actually makes a drag link mount for a steering damper. That would be the first thing to try. if not just take a small piece of angle steel (or bent flat stock) and drill holes for small u bolts. I would use 3 but SG etc use two. drill a hole in the bent up part for the damper and you are done. Tighten everything up and maybe even add two clamps on either side to make sure it stays in place.

At some point in the past someone posted instructions for this but I have lost the link to the drawing on Dweb

What is the reason for relocating the steering damper?

So you don't break it when you drive over a log . . . or rock etc.

Good show trevor.

They only thing really different I would do is make the piece on the frame just flat stock and the other piece you could simplify and use u bolts rather than the backing plate.
