I want to get a 2" Rovertym lift on my 95 Disco, but according to Rovertym roto-flex coupling doesn't like suspension lifts. How can I find out what kind of shaft I have on my Disco?

I believe 97 and newer models have the UJ. Just look at the ends of your front & rear driveshafts. If you see UJs, you are probably Ok.

so my 1995 Disco has roto-flex coupling, where can I get the U-joint shafts? Is replacing them pretty easy?

Some early '97's also had the Rotoflex - LR also has a retrofit kit - expensive but RN has it.

Bob,

I have a 96' with OME HD springs that provide roughly 2" of lift. I also have a rotoflex coupling. I have not experienced any problems with it as a result of my lift. You might try adding the lift to your truck and then determine if any further action is necessary.

Find a used drive shaft out of an 87-88 RR or disco I that has the U joints (I think 89-95 RR will work too but I dunno) should be in the 100 range and also get the pinion thing new (about 40) and you are good.

Try the lift with the vehicle "as is". It's also possible that the Roto-Flex is in need of replacement regardless. They don't last forever.

If you do get drive line vibration, it's possible that a conversion to a standard u-joint driveshaft won't correct it as some vehicles with u-joints suffer from vibration when lifted as well.

I'd look into a custom CV drive shaft. There are a number of good shops that can make and ship you a CV drive shaft within 24 hours once you get them the dimensions. Prices are competitive.

for you with rotoflex and monster flex get taller bump stops... if not the rotoflex WILL rub!!!!! when the passenger read wheel gets stuffed all the way in....

I have 3" of lift on my 95 with a roto-flex and I have no driveline problems at all. Problems? Yes, but not related to driveline or lifting, just related to being a Land Rover.

I would try lifting as is like was suggested, as all trucks are different. If it works, great. If not, it is not the end of the world, you will just have to live with some vibration for a bit until you change it. But my favorite saying " If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I also have ~3" lift and no RotoFlex problems.
However, I have the bent SG trailing arms which
changes the rear pinion angle back to something
closer to stock.

I think it depends on the truck. Keep an eye on
your Rotoflex and carry a spare. I've got 30,000
plus miles on one right now with no cracks or
chunks.
