I have been chatting with Chris @ RPI about re-chipping. Since your 4.0 is a GEMS setup, you need to send the ECU to RPI so they can install both chips and do some other upgrades, as an example, mine is NAS, so it has to learn how to speak "English", s instead of z, bonnet instead of hood, etc.. Cost is outrageous, little over $1K. If you have the cash and can be without your vehicle for 5- days, it's a sound idea.

Go with Superchips I.C.O.N.s'. You have to put two in your rover(due to the ignition systems coils) and they will give you about 30hp. What the Icon does is increase the timing advance which is exactly what the Disco needs to get out of its way. Each I.C.O.N. costs $395.

If you have the pre Gems motor then the RPI chip is a DIY proposition and costs about $490. But Chris will also provide you with an ignition amp for $150 and advice on sorting out the vacuum advance module first. I did my 94 recently and have an easy extra 20hp...doing the camshaft upgrade when I get the time. Would avoid superchips as it's NOT just a case of advancing the ignition on these motors...there is an underfuelling issue that has to be attended to also in any chip conversion performed and RPIs fuel mapping is totally Rover specific. I suspect the superchips deal would merely result in pinging and burnt out valves.
