I just bought a Bayliner 2252 Ciera Express (boat) Weight: (w/base engine) 4000 lbs/1814kg and kinda worried if my Disco can handle it. Can it? What is the towing limit?

Thanks

Disco tow weight is 4000kgs or about 8000lbs, A little over zealous however i tow 2000kg regularly with no probs, electric brakes of course.

See, these are the kind of posts that make me think my truck isn't running well. I pull a boat well within the Disco's recommended towing weight, and it's a very sluggish endeavor. When you guys say it pulls your boat no problem, are you exaggerating? Do you have problems going up inclines? Or is my truck struggling more than it should be?

Please solve all of my problems for me and make me feel better. Wave a magic wand and make my Disco perfect, before lunch if you don't mind. Thanks in advance.

Do you guys tow in overdrive or use 3rd gear?

On a level grade you should be o.k. You will have to down shift on steep grades. I use 2nd gear all the time going up steep grades pulling close to 4000#'s. It will struggle if you don't, Hell it will struggle anyway, but you should be able to maintain at least 55 going up grades. A disco can pull 5500#'s not 8000#'s. In low range 7000#'s

I pull a 30' formula. Trailer and boat = 8600 lbs

Very cautious and careful...

The Idea is NOT TO STOP.

95 disco 5 speed

Of course I feel it!!!
My suburban does too!!!

The Disco is not fast (who would want to be??!!) but will cruise on highway at 50-55 mph in 4th gear comfortably.

...If I dare go to 5th, I will lose my ground speed pretty quickly.

I like towing with a 5 speed.
Seems to give me more options.

I know I'm at the limits of the truck!!!
But I'm cautious too... usually, I start my braking 1/2 mile before a red light...then, by the time I get there, it's green!
